“National Martial Arts is a great place to train. Professor South does an excellent job leading and managing the gym — he sets the tone for a positive and supportive environment. His leadership and the professionalism of the staff make it easy to feel comfortable and motivated from day one.

The members and coaches create a strong sense of community where everyone encourages each other to grow and get better. It’s a welcoming place that makes training both rewarding and fun. I truly can’t recommend it enough!“

“Excellent variety of equipment. Always clean with an emphasis on cleaning the equipment. The owners are great people and so are the people that frequent the gym. I love the fact that there is a good mix of ages represented, especially since I just turned 76 and still love to workout.“

“Best judo training environment I’ve experienced. Structured, intense comp nights with high-level randori, and a true team culture. Everyone encourages each other and pushes together. Coach Jacob leads with clarity and accountability, holds a high standard, and the room delivers: welcoming people, elite partners, and real improvement. You can tell the program is built on respect, effort, and teamwork, and it’s a great environment for anyone who wants to learn judo the right way, from kids to serious competitors.“

Jack Hwang's Martial Arts Martial Arts Schools

“One of the many ways God has blessed me is by leading me to Jack Hwang's Martial Arts. I was doing really well last year until about August. Due to working more and becoming more involved with the church, I became stretched very thin. I had to make a decision, and my livelihood and my faith had to come before my newfound passion. I took a hiatus from Taekwondo until the beginning of the new year. It was difficult coming back and seeing that all of my peers had advanced. You build comradery in Taekwondo, just like any sport, so it’s difficult when you feel left behind. Despite that, I was determined to get myself ready for the next test on Jan 29th. Working with my instructors, I busted my tail to learn the next forms (and re-learn the ones I had forgot), as well as most of my one steps. By the time the week of the test came around, I was ready. Unfortunately, I tested positive for COVID that week and I had to quarantine. I missed the test and all that hard work seemed for nothing. I would have to wait another three months to test again. I was feeling pretty discouraged. It became pretty easy to decide to skip Taekwondo. I have become more busy than I was when I took a hiatus last year, as I’ve started two classes through Haskins School of Ministry, and I’ve started preaching. I went the week after COVID, but I skipped the week following. When I did come back, Randy (beginner belt instructor - far right) said, “Kyle, where ya been, man?” I told him how I ended up just sleeping on the previous Monday when I was supposed to be there. He said, “I was gonna tell you that I talked to Sonny (intermediate belt instructor - far left), and we decided we’re going to do a rank test just for you. It’s not fair that you had to miss it because of COVID.” I was so blown away by that and told him how much I appreciated it. He and Sonny, again, worked hard to help get me ready for my test. Today was the day. I’m proud to say that I did really well and I have finally earned my green belt. Mark is the one to my immediate right. He’s the black belt I had to spar with as part of my test. He has been a great encourager for me and I appreciate him, as well. I’m humbled to say that I could not have done it without him, Randy and Sonny, and all of Jack Hwang’s behind me. It’s an honor and a blessing to be a part of this school. I love my dojang. I’ll recommend everyone I can to take a free trial lesson. You won’t regret it. (Wow, Heaven forbid I ever win a Grammy or an Oscar, huh?)“

James White Fitness Martial Arts Schools

“My wife and I have visited 4 different gyms before landing on James White Fitness. The first place we went, the owner couldn't remember our names after being there 6+ months and that didn't sit right with me. The second place started out great but due to my child's autism and ADHD, he was spending more time being reprimanded than he was being instructed due to the militant style of the teacher. Not for us.After a single night at James White Fitness we knew this place was different. James' approach to teaching the children was playful yet disciplined, fun but safe. He creates an environment of team-building and inclusion in a sport that can often hyper-focus on the individual. My wife and I often joke that if Mister Rogers taught Jiu-Jitsu, his name would be James White. Before long, my wife and I joined my son in learning and we all started competing together and I can't stress enough how much of a life changing experience it was. The community, dare I say family, that James and Sam have created is so much more than just a gym and my entire family is better off for having experienced it.If you're just looking for jiu-jitsu lessons, there's plenty of places in the area. But if you are looking for an experience that will give you and your children friendship, discipline, community, and personal growth, you can't find a better place than James White Fitness.Believe me, we've looked.“
