“I was referred to CHN Housing Partners (CHN) through the Detroit Accessibility Network and Wayne Metro, and it changed my life. At first, I thought I was only getting some wrought iron handrails for my porch. Instead, CHN transformed the exterior of my home and restored my sense of safety, dignity and independence.

CHN installed new handrails for my porch, a security porch light, a Ring doorbell, new security doors and locks, a safe walkway, level sidewalk and driveway. Later, I received a call from CHN asking if I needed handrails for my shower, along with a shower bench and chair, for increased bathroom safety. I was speechless!

When I first heard about CHN, I thought I might finally get the assistance I needed to install wrought-iron handrails for my porch. My porch had long been a safety hazard. It was dilapidated and had become detached from my home’s entrance. For years, I had searched for a nonprofit organization that could help me but to no avail. So, after years of saving every penny I could, I finally paid out-of-pocket to replace my front porch. That accomplishment brought relief but also left me financially depleted, with no funds left for the handrails required by Detroit’s building code. I prayed about it and held onto faith that somehow help would come.

CHN changed the course of my life. What began as a simple hope for help with just a few handrails turned into one of the most extraordinary blessings I have ever received. The day CHN assessors, Rafic and Connor, arrived at my home was the day my life changed forever. They treated me with kindness, respect and genuine compassion. They did not just see the repairs I so desperately needed. They also saw me—a person living with disabilities who simply wanted to live safely and independently in her own home. Now, I have curb appeal, safety and peace of mind. My neighbors stop to compliment my home and, for the first time in years, I planted flowers. CHN didn’t just repair my home—CHN restored my hope and my quality of life.

CHN Housing Partners is not just an organization; it is a movement of compassion, grace and human dignity. Their mission embodies the belief that safe, stable housing restores more than a physical structure. It restores hope, confidence and peace of mind of those who hope for better lives. I am living proof of that truth.

I am forever grateful to CHN Housing Partners, the Detroit Accessibility Network, Wayne Metro, and their incredible team—especially Jocelyn Moss, Ebony Jones, Zachariah Bosy, Joe Azzopardi, Jason Leach, Allison, Rafic, and Connor of CHN and Sally Jones of Wayne Metro for their professionalism, kindness and vision. Their collaborative efforts changed the trajectory of my life forever. Thank you for everything.”
