Mount Carmel East is not a quality care hospital. Most specifically what brings them down are the nurses. They are negligent toward patients. A good example would be to ignore someone while having a 2 hour anxiety attack. They do not reach out to help by the doctors for guidance on how to address patient needs. Also, Mount Carmel East tries to hold patients for days without tests. When a patient states they will leave Against Medical Advice (AMA) magically the tests can be performed the same day. I would say this is a way to increase the amount they can bill for. Mount Carmel hospital system is a horrible place to try and receive medical help.

The doctors may be terrific. I wouldn't know. Their incompetent staff rescheduled me four times, changing the dates over the period of two and a half months (once calling twice in the same day to tell me they'd screwed up *again*). All this for a simple cardiology exam. I'm looking elsewhere as I do not trust them to manage my file on ANY level.

We went to this hospital to the ER and we had to wait for 5 hours total before seeing a doctor. It took an hour just to see a nurse, then 4 more hours waiting for a room/doctor. There were also a lot of other people waiting there. W e we're waiting for so long that we had to ask the lady at the front desk if they had forgotten about us (soon after, they had a room). Also, all the staff there acted kind of cold/unfriendly. I do not recommend this hospital at all-- St. Anne's is much better.
