4390 Mahoning Ave, Youngstown“My folks - Dad/85 and going through chemo; Mom/84 with Parkinson’s - have been working with the wonderful people of First Light since December 2025, and to say I’m impressed with each and every aspect of the agency would be a tremendous understatement. From those in charge like Dawn Polas and Stacey Stroup to Kim at Scheduling and our primary caregiver, Catelynn, the people of First Light have been incredibly patient and helpful throughout every part of this most challenging journey. There is, as many of you know firsthand, much worry that goes into these challenges, and First Light takes a goodly portion of that worry and logistical concern out of the equation. I cannot recommend more highly based on our experiences the staff and personnel of First Light Home Care of the Valley - MD Johnson / Newton Falls OH“

4605 Market St, Youngstown“The Addison of Cornersburg was described to me as a “hidden gem.” After having placed my mother there for a month of respite care, I have to agree. My mother said that she liked it, it was very clean, and it was a very nice place. The staff are excellent, and I feel that they really care about the residents and enjoy working there. When my mother arrived, there was a welcoming basket in her room that contained chocolates, hard candies, a mug, teabags, and a throw blanket.
My mother had a stroke 6 years ago that caused left hand weakness and loss of dexterity, and she had recently fractured her right hand, which made it difficult for her to raise a cup up to her mouth to drink with having a splint extending past her wrist and covering the thumb on the good hand. Doug went out and bought her a nonspillable travel mug with a large straw, so she was able to drink much easier. She also has dementia and constantly asks what day it is. One day, I walked into her room and found they had placed a digital calendar monitor on the table next to her La-Z-Boy chair which had the current date and day of the week clearly displayed for her.
When I dropped in unannounced one evening after work the week after she arrived, I was stopped in the hallway by a very friendly aide who asked me if I was my mother’s daughter. I was surprised that they not only knew every resident but also the friends and family that visit those residents. This was someone I had never met before, but she knew exactly who I came there to see. Equally impressive, she told me that she had just come from my mother‘s room to introduce herself because this was the first day that she had worked since my mother arrived, and she had just started her shift but would be giving her a bath later. At other facilities, aides would simply wait until they needed to do something for a resident to introduce themselves to them.
The facility itself was not only very clean, but they also kept my mother very clean. They provide baths twice per week, whereas many other facilities only provide a bath once a week because I believe that’s the state requirement. My 91-year-old mother is incontinent and often also has mucus leakage from her bowels. Every time I visited her, she was always wearing perfectly clean, dry disposable underwear. She is the type of person that can leak mucus right after you change them, but there was never even a smudge of mucus on her underwear anytime I visited her, which was always unannounced and at different times of the day/night.
Amy, the nurse at The Addison was also very helpful. She coordinated a virtual office visit with my mother‘s family doctor so that my mother could be approved for rehab with an outside agency. She also had an x-ray ordered and urinalysis performed the day before my mother left, which saved me the trouble of taking my mother to an x-ray facility and lab for those tests.
Assisted living and respite care is expensive in general, but The Addison was very reasonably priced. One of the places that I inquired at was charging more than double the price that I paid at The Addison for respite care.
In summary, this is a very clean place that takes excellent care of your loved ones with kind, caring, compassionate, and friendly staff. They offer a lot of activities throughout the day, including weekends. I wish they also offered daycare services because I would take my mother out of her current daycare program and bring her here if that were an option.“

The young gentleman Alex and James made my first company provided ride a fun event instead of an awful and awkward experience! Both were very polite and went above and well beyond their obligations! First impressions has me insisting on the same company and if possible the same exact drivers! Highly recommended! I will always ask for James or younger Alex and you should too! My friends and relatives and coworkers will be informed to do the same.“

All staff is very professional, caring, understanding, and extremely attentive to needs. Any questions..they take time to give explanations. Cathy visited Friday w/new equipment. Very thorough, as well as personable. Left me with her comforting words of encouragement...she's awesome AND followed up with a phone call today!! Insurance questions, ordering, delivery, etc. Have all been answered and taken care of immediately by Dana! Delivery drivers have all been very professional also. Tonya (hospital rep) got the ball rolling when I was discharged. Extremely helpful thru initial process. Always took time to return phone calls and communicate and coordinated this new circumstance for me. God bless you all and keep doing what you're doing ?“
