I've been coming to this studio for a decade and I have nothing but amazing things to say about the studio and the instructors. The hot room may require some adjusting but once you find your pace and practice style it becomes a space that calls you back in time and time again. This space will be kind to you when you haven't been kind to yourself, it will revitalize you when you're stripped down to nothing and it will lift you when you feel like you're drowning. It's clean, the schedule has plenty of classes throughout the day, and you don't have to know a single thing about yoga. Tomoko and her staff here at Hot Yoga Rego Park are changing lives. Yoga has become a bit performative in certain places, where it's more about taking a photo to post to social media rather than the practice. I always felt out of place practicing in Brooklyn and the vibe at other studios I've gone to is not welcoming. Here it's the total opposite, theres a palpable sense of community, the students all seem to know each other and everyone is so kind. I've seen more diversity in those who practice yoga here than any other studio I've attended. The diversity in shapes, sizes, genders, backgrounds and ages makes you feel instantly welcome. The act of doing yoga can be nerve-racking, you have to stare at yourself in a mirror for an hour or longer, to feel no sense of judgement or nervousness during that process is a gift. They also offer more than 26 & 2, they have music classes, Hot Yin and Lu-Jong (A Tibetan Yoga). So you get a very balanced practice if you take all the classes here. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of the more boujee studios in nyc. But it has a wonderful array of classes, teachers, staff and fellow yoga practitioners. Come take a class here, you won't regret it!
