Ravi’s masonry team re-pointed the front of my brick house . Now there are no more unsightly lines running thru the brick, no more stares as people walk by. “The asphalt-shingle roof showed ordinary age-related wear, including granule loss, lifted fasteners, and cracking around several penetrations. The upstairs rooms were also unusually hot in summer. Attic inspection found that the existing ridge vent had almost no effective intake because insulation covered the soffit openings. The owners reviewed a basic shingle replacement and a broader option that corrected the ventilation path at the same time. They selected architectural shingles with new ridge ventilation, continuous soffit intake, and ventilation baffles that kept insulation from blocking airflow. Removal exposed seven deteriorated plywood sheets near the eaves, matching the quantity anticipated in the decking allowance. Those sheets were replaced before the underlayment and ice-and-water protection were installed. Shrubs below the eaves were covered with raised protection that did not rest on the branches. The crew also cleaned loose insulation from the attic access area and performed magnetic sweeps around the front steps and planting beds. The completed ventilation path was verified from inside the attic rather than assumed from the appearance of the new vents. During the following summer, the owners reported that the upstairs temperature was more consistent“
