The short version is that they diagnosed an unusual leak correctly and kept the repair appropriately limited.
Water entered only during wind-driven rain from the east, while ordinary rainfall caused no problem. The field membrane was still serviceable, but the wall flashing had separated behind a metal termination bar. The loose section was removed, the substrate was allowed to dry, and new reinforced flashing was installed and sealed into the masonry joint. They tested the repair from more than one direction instead of simply pouring water over the roof. It has now stayed dry through three storms, including one with nearly identical wind conditions.
