“I grew up immersed in martial arts and skateboarding, becoming professional in both. I spent over two decades competing in international tournaments and earned my 5th-degree black belt in Japanese Ju Jitsu (Jujutsu 柔術). Martial arts shaped who I am—it gave me discipline, confidence, and purpose.

When I moved to Las Vegas and got married, I no longer had my dojo or organization. So when my kids expressed interest in martial arts, I was extremely selective. I knew firsthand how important the right environment, leadership, and philosophy are, especially for children. I struggled to find a school that I felt could truly connect with my kids the way my organization once connected with me.

As our son Dominic prepared to enter middle school, I knew the time was right. That’s when we found Victory Martial Arts Tenaya.

Abigail attended our daughter Hayden’s back-to-school night and offered us two free weeks of lessons. We had no idea how quickly our kids would fall in love with it. Watching them train, grow, and look forward to every class was something special.

Coming from a very traditional martial arts background, Victory’s style was different from what I was used to, so I took my time feeling it out. But once I got to know Master Preston Hopkins, everything clicked. His passion, drive, and dedication are the same qualities I grew up around in martial arts. He is a true master of his craft and an outstanding leader.

I couldn’t be happier knowing that my son Dominic and my daughter Hayden are part of something so meaningful—something that gives them the opportunity to thrive the way I once did. “What an absolutely special community they have created in this space! We were just expecting routines and exercises. There is so much thought put into how Tomer leads classes. Each practice session is bit like a story unfolding: fun moments and jokes, high expectations and good feedback, but then, just at the right moment, there is a little lesson tucked in there, a message or a tip which is so much more than just timely. My child continually refers back to these observations Tomer shared with the class. We end up discussing them at the dinner table and they guide my kid through difficult interactions at school. “Went here for quite a while. Sigung is a great teacher. All the other instructors are also incredible, Sifu Ellis, Sebok Jones, Sifu Cortez, Sifu Wilson. All of them are talented and dedicated martial artists and are amazing teachers. They regularly hold seminars with highly talented and revered martial artists from around the country. If you want to learn self defence and discipline, this is the place, where hard work and dedication is rewarded. Their training is tough, but well worth it.
