I can't speak highly enough of the experience we have had with La Familia Medical Center. From the receptionist answering the phone to make appointments, to the nurse, the lab technician and of course, the doctor, Dr. Maas, who is very caring and thorough.

My response to your criminal charges of that single mother. Honesty, with my experience with health care professionals in this town and especially La Familia, I would tend to believe this women. When I went to La Familia, the nurse who saw me had huge dirty brown spots on her scrubs. Her attitude was hostile, as was the physician I saw. I found them to be ignorant, patronizing and generally disrespectful and unprepared to do their jobs. The facilities were filthy. I would have never let one of my veterinary hospitals open with that type of filth. This seems to be like an ugly health worker's actions of lying to take revenge because she did not like this woman's response. I have seen that kind of behavior too often in every health care facility I have visited in this community. I haven't ever seen a worse medical climate ever, and I don't mean a little worse. You risk your life just by living in the vicinity of every hospital and every clinic that I have visited in this town. I've never seen anything like it. I had a staff member at Presbyterian make a very loud and snide remark to her co-workers in reference to me one night. I am a VETERINARIAN! I told a nurse that my partner's hernia was becoming worse, as we were waiting to see a doctor. The nurse huffed and said, "how would she know if the hernia is getting worse or not, " in one of the most rude, condescending manners I have ever heard. I walked out there and looked at her and I said, "because you have more abdominal tissue coming through the hernia sight and it is irreducible!" I do hernia surgeries you idiot! That is how I know!!!! She should not have been making those comments. Unfortunately that is the norm for health facilities in this town and I am dedicated to doing something until they change.

Staff are not providing friendly and courteous service to patients. The doctors and nurses are working with too many patients daily which compromises the quality of care. More medical professionals are needed to accommodate the large number of patients seen regularly at the clinic. At this clinic, medical staff can be seen that are stressed which impacts their interactions with patients. The clinic phone system has had problems for months.
