“Confession time: I tried to 'cheat' on The Optical Shoppe with a new doctor for the sake of convenience. Spoiler alert: it was not convenient, and I came running back!

I’ve been a loyal customer here since the Dr. Finch days and the era of the incredibly cool Dave. Even though Dave has retired and his wonderful daughter Jamie now runs the business from behind the scenes, you can absolutely still feel their standards living on through the staff.

I walked in fresh from my 'bad breakup' with that other place, and Lex immediately swung into action. She actually repaired my old glasses on the spot (new nose pads and a tighten-up) so I had something to wear while waiting for my order. Then she whisked me over to the contact lens specialist (I am mortified that I forgot your name—please forgive me, I promise to get it right when I pick up my order!) and then to Kim, their amazing Optician.

I ended up going all in: transition lenses with new frames AND prescription sunglasses. The whole experience reminded me why I loved interacting with Dave all those years ago.
Lesson learned: You can’t put a price on this kind of care. This is why supporting local, family-owned businesses is so important. I’m back for good!“

“I had a very positive experience overall with my eye exam. The staff was thorough, professional, and took the time to go through everything carefully with me. I appreciated how detailed the exam was and how comfortable they made me feel throughout the appointment.

The only issue I experienced was with the lens-testing equipment fogging up while trying different prescriptions. I feel like that could make it harder to get the most accurate reading possible, and I hope there may be a way to improve that in the future.

“Dr. David Klatz is the first eye doctor who truly listened to my concerns about my severe dry eyes. Instead of simply recommending eye drops like every other doctor I had seen, he suggested a dry eye evaluation to determine the underlying cause. The testing confirmed that I have severe dry eye, and he recommended collagen plugs for my tear drainage ducts.

Dr. Klatz was patient, thorough, and took the time to answer all of my questions. He clearly explained my condition, the procedure, and how the collagen plugs could help. The procedure itself was quick and comfortable, and I was put at ease throughout the entire visit.

In less than 24 hours, my eyes are already feeling significantly better. I am so grateful that Dr. Klatz took the time to find the root cause of my symptoms instead of just treating them with another bottle of eye drops. I highly recommend Dr. Klatz to anyone struggling with dry eye symptoms.“

After Dr. Potosky retired the new doctors smoothly transitioned and joined the optician, Mike Kennedy, who started the business. Mike greets patients by name as they enter, treating each as a friend. He recommends frames that look good on each patient and guides you through the process and fitting. The doctors take their time during the exam and explain what is happening each step of the way. The office staff are all friendly and helpful as well.“

Besides regular office visits, web exercises are done on my home computer, which have been amazing, and based on a unique neuroscience program.
