“ASNJ is a rare and wonderful place. Cannot overstate. My 12 y/o daughter started practicing here in November, she loves it. This isn’t our first crack at martial arts - My daughter can be shy and hesitant to put herself out there- but she has truly thrived here. The vibe/ the instructors/ the energy is just so awesome - she is engaged and challenged and feels comfortable - she has never said “I don’t want to go”. The whole Dojo is just full of caring, intelligent and funny instructors and members who genuinely care for and support one another. Sensei Jay and the rest of the Dojo leadership / instructors we have worked with so far (Frank, Paul, James, Thu, Barry, Tom, and Guzman) are all really great - they are awesome teachers, compassionate towards the students while challenging them to be their best selves - and always, always welcoming. I cannot recommend ASNJ enough to parents and to adults who want to practice. They offer tons of classes, very flexible schedule, interesting and fun options no matter your level/ readiness. What I like the most is you practice in real time not in theory , when you throw a kick or punch you will see what adjustments you have to make in order to delivery that . Coach Cruz is very knowledgeable and a student still of the history. Of martial arts it’s evident by one of his students who happens to be Alex Periera the current UFC champ .
