419 NJ-34, Matawan“Our family had a wonderful experience at Ambition Martial Arts with Professor James Noto. My son trained there for about three years, and my daughter also .
The biggest difference we saw was in our son's confidence, discipline, focus, and behavior. The training taught him much more than martial arts—it helped him develop respect, perseverance, self-control, and valuable life skills. He learned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, and kickboxing, while also gaining practical self-defense skills in a positive and encouraging environment.
Professor James Noto is an outstanding instructor who genuinely cares about his students. He knows how to challenge children while also making them feel supported and motivated. The atmosphere at the academy is respectful, family-friendly, and focused on helping every student grow both on and off the mat. We highly recommend Professor James Noto and his team to any parent looking for a place where their child can build confidence, discipline, character, and strong martial arts skills. Thank you for everything!“

The curriculum keeps kids engaged, motivated, and excited to learn while building confidence, discipline, and respect. Watching how positively the children respond to the program has been amazing. My only regret is not signing my child up sooner! Highly recommend to any parent looking for a positive and enriching activity for their child.“

3896 Richmond Ave, Staten Island“We’ve been training here Master Curry Karate Jujutsu Ryu for about two years, and I felt it was time to leave a review. This place has been great for my son Jayden. He’s become more confident, more focused, and much more disciplined. The instructors are patient, supportive, and really know how to work with kids. Jayden actually looks forward to every class, and we’ve seen real progress both in his skills and his attitude. Highly recommend to any parent looking for a solid martial arts school.“

I especially appreciate that he teaches important values like respect and goal setting, encouraging the kids to work hard and show their energy with confidence. It’s more than just martial arts — it’s about building character. Highly recommend!“

Great Instruction
Well Run Class
Organized Structure
Beginner-Competitive Skill Levels
Wonderful Atmosphere
If I were to give anyone an example of what a community oriented Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Mixed Martial Arts Training Center should look like: this would be it.“

10 Nassau Pl, Staten Island“Great dojo. My son has been here about 8 months and we’re extremely happy with it.
The senseis are the real deal—firm, structured, and clear with expectations, but still patient and great with the kids. There’s a level of discipline here that you don’t see at a lot of places.
What stood out to us right away is that it doesn’t feel corporate or watered down. It’s focused, authentic, and you can tell they care about developing the kids, not just running classes.
We come 3–4 times a week and my son genuinely wants to be there. He’s improved a lot in his judo, but more importantly, his confidence, discipline, and overall attitude have noticeably leveled up.
If you’re comparing schools, this is the kind of place you want your kid in.“

5 - 8:30PM
609 Midland Ave, Staten Island“Have been coming here for years. Took a long break and just got back into it a couple months ago. Competed a placed all times!! Very old school way of teaching. No talking, laughing or fooling around in the class. (Which is a good thing considering you don't want to get hurt). Felix has been doing this for about 30 years and I understand why. I would definitely recommend parents, students to give him a chance. Also, if you're a beginner looking to move up the ladder in the judo world and get into big competitions this is the school for you.“

The owners and staff are professional, welcoming, and respectful. They create a positive environment that makes you feel comfortable right away. I highly recommend this business to anyone interested in learning and getting involved in the sport.“
