“I wanted to give a big shout out to Sean Eaton of Eaton Exteriors who recently finished our metal roof installation. I also wanted to share a few things about our experience that sets Sean and his crew apart from our normal expectations.
Eaton Exteriors is a Milford-based company. My experiences with local companies are very mixed, as they often are. For this particular project we received three quotes. One quote from a national company, one from a regional company, and one from Sean.
Sean showed up when he said he would, climbed right up on the roof and told me straight up that my roof was approaching its end, but I could probably get another year or two out of it without issue. Wow. Transparency and honesty are so hard to come by these days, that this felt rather refreshing. We spent about an hour discussing everything, then he left and said he would email me a quote.
Then it was time to compare the quotes. First guy had given me a quote within an hour. Second guy gave me a quote via email the next day. Sean's quote came in after a couple of days of me nagging (sorry!) and he was simply waiting on the satellite measuring company. Since Sean's quote was the last to come in, the other two companies had been calling me daily trying to get me to buy. I've never quite understood this tactic, nonetheless that's how it happened.
After receiving Sean's quote and comparing them to the others, not only did he offer the best price, but he also offered the product we wanted from the start without any hassle.
So we hired him... Then the product arrives and as soon it was in my driveway (On a Thursday) Sean was on the phone with me and offering to get to the site to start the following Monday. Again, wow! Absolutely no crap sitting around for weeks, having to play phone tag, the list goes on about what could have happened - it didn't. Stuff showed up -> crew showed up. Just like it should be.
Then they do the job. Sean was on site every single day himself alongside his crew. This was a multi-day job that ended up taking a bit longer than expected. Part of it was because they had to remove my entire gutter system. I assume he had other crews running at other sites, along with quotes to do and other miscellaneous business-owner tasks at the same time, which was the reason I did not see him ALL day long, which was never expected. No complaints, no grief, no short shifts - just good old fashion hard and meticulous work.
Well, they end up finishing the job and I think it looks great. My uncle had just flown into town and he was in commercial construction for his entire career, so I asked his opinion. He was super impressed with the level of detail they had put in, and all of the precautions they had taken to do the job properly. He said nothing but good things.
On the very last day I was outside with them most of the day, just watching the final touches being applied. I went inside and - oops - fell asleep on my couch. An hour later I woke up to my doorbell ringing and they were completely done and cleaned up! Virtually spotless! I could not even believe it because just that morning they were scaling the house and it just looked like there was a lot left to do. I bought my own nail magnet and went around my house after they had left and only found a small handful, which was far less than I had expected based on my previous experiences.
So, that's it! I know a wrote a lot here but I feel like anyone that's doing major work to their home in the next five years wants to read this kind of stuff. I don't recommend companies unless they check several boxes for me, and this company absolutely did.
