I cannot tell you how great this group is, and how attentive to detail and personal concerns they provide. Juan, Seth, and staff give great care in a timely manner, and I highly recommend AFC for urgent care needs!

I recently visited AFC and am always amazed by the staff and the facility. I was seen by Brenda and Juan who both exemplified the qualities and characteristics of exceptional health care providers. They are kind, compassionate, patient, and empathetic. I was impressed with the level of care that I received and with their efficiency. They treated me quickly while thoroughly explaining everything to me about my treatment plan. I should also mention that I am repeatedly impressed with the friendliness of the front desk staff which is particularly comforting when you’re under the weather and every smile helps! Second time here and they did not disappoint. Speedy appt setting, and speedy care. I love this place! I recommend anybody who is in need of health care to come. Thank you so much AFC! My youngest son is already feeling better!

Dr. Bruce Irwin opened the first American Family Care® in 1982, making it the first urgent care, family care, and primary care practice in Birmingham, Alabama. As a child, Dr. Irwin frequently watched doctors attend to his father’s medical needs. During frequent trips to the emergency room, Dr. Irwin noticed that many non-emergency patients were taking up time and resources from the ER, making the experience more difficult for themselves and those in need of true life-saving care. It was during this time he came up with his idea for an urgent care network that could attend to the needs of non-emergency patients who were in need of immediate attention.
