“After hurricane Helene we purchased a 24KW Generac from Lowe's with the intention of installing the unit myself with the help of a friend at work that is licensed. Unfortunately, that fell through and I was left in a pickle! I contacted a local Generac dealer and they flat out refused to work with me because I didn't buy from them. Did a google search for other Generac dealers in the area and Forge Mtn electric came up, seeing they were 2 miles from me, I gave them a call and spoke with Christine Ware. I explained my situation and asked if they could come and do a site visit, she was able to come over with in the hour. Christine looked over the work I had already accomplished and told me that the location I chose for the generator would not pass code (to close to window of shop) so we discussed an alternative location and other code requirements I would need adhere to seeing I was going to be doing the trenching and running the conduit myself.
From there we scoped the rest of the job for Forge Mtn electric to pull the permits, contact and work with a local propane co., relocate the transfer switch, finish the conduit runs, pull wire, terminate and commission the generator. Everything went great!! The work was started and completed as scheduled, we did have to wait on the commissioning due to the gas co. vs the weather but once the gas was hooked up and the county inspector passed the installation. The tech. came back out and did they commissioning with me & went over all the stuff I need to know on the generator i.e. menu screens, warning lights, etc. and Christine, also got me an extended 10 year warranty!
