Carrier Corporation is a business with a truck entrance and registration at the security gate. Drivers must prepare a PO number, and edge protectors are mandatory for pick-ups. PPE is required, and no overnight parking is available. Loading is fast, but there is a long waiting in a line, and no restroom for drivers is available. Drivers should go to the security booth to register for loading or unloading. The guard comes out to check around the unit and seals, then lets the driver in. The driver moves forward in the left lane and stops next to the left sign and traffic light post, where the forklift driver will give instructions. For dry vans, the wait is at a prescribed location until someone comes. It is very tight for a blind side, so the recommendation is to turn around at the sign and back down before maneuvering towards the dock area. For pickups of more than 2 individual units, individual tarp per unit is required, such as 4 units needing 4 tarps. The load is pretty quick, but drivers are not told this until finished, causing redo of chains. The actual unloading took about 20 minutes, but delays can occur. Drivers are not allowed inside the building, so updates are not available.
Arrived 30 minutes early for a 9am appointment. Had to wait quite a while for someone to assign a dock. Once docked, we sat for over an hour before unloading even started. Drivers are not allowed inside the building, so there was no way to get any updates. The actual unloading took only about 20 minutes, but the delay caused us to be 15 minutes late to our next drop.
Make sure if you pick up more than 2 individual units you have individual tarp per unit. 4 units 4 tarps. They load pretty well and quick, only problem I was never told that until I finished, strapped and chained up the load, so had to redo 8 chains to get individual tarps on each unit. You are allowed to walk on trailer unlike the instructions, depending on the load. Every individual drivers are different set of instructions. One driver thought I was skipping the line and got his panties twisted with profanity when I clearly needed to pass them and go to a whole completely different building.
