My son's violin teacher recommended we take our instrument here for a repair. It was an older full-sized violin gifted to us by a friend. The tail piece, chin rest, bridge, strings, and pegs were all replaced or repaired to tailor to my son's needs. Finer recondiotioning was not deemed necessary for a beginner violinist. I appreciated the honesty! We also purchased a new bow as it made more sense to get a better bow than to rehair the old one the violin came with. Wow, what a difference! Since my son started playing the violin, we’ve been going to Bearden Violin Shop for the past few years. We purchased an antique violin and a bow there, and we also bring them in whenever repairs are needed. Mr. Greg is kind, knowledgeable, patient, and truly cares about the instruments.
In particular, it took us several weeks to choose the right violin because we wanted to take our time, but he waited for us patiently until the very end. He never pressured us even once, and always treated us with warmth and respect.
I feel very lucky that St. Louis has a place like this. I sincerely hope this precious family business continues for many more years to come.
Small, family owned shop in an unassuming house/business. We received superb assistance from the woman working there. She scheduled an appointment for us and had everything ready when we arrived. Renting my daughter’s violin could of have been more easy or pleasant!
