I love this violin shop. They are the real deal. The chain stores can fool you with lots of instruments hanging in the store, and it makes them seem legit. My personal experience with the owner of Beardon (he is also a luthier) is that he cares about what instruments he sells and leases, it's about quality not quantity.

We were referred here by my daughter’s cello teacher and have been renting both a cello and a viola for several years. Now we are purchasing a cello. We make the drive from west county because Greg is worth the trip. This is a lovely, charming older shop. Greg has not just knowledge but wisdom. His instruments and bows are excellent quality, I highly recommend for any serious musician. I can’t understand the poor reviews here because Greg has always been so kind. (Speaks more to the reviewer than to him, in my opinion.) Also, fyi we do call ahead to make an appointment. I don’t think it’s needed, but I prefer to do that.

St Louis's premier violin shop, well established and known worldwide. If you are looking for a serious instrument, this is the place to go. I have been dealing with them for at least the past 20 years.
