The BEST place for dog training in Northern Michigan! We've attended classes, puppy social events and have been using Kathy's in-home training services for two years. The amount of special focus and care that she put into our dog's training has been extraordinary!

I can't praise Barks and Rec. enough. My shy 8-week-old puppy underwent a remarkable transformation in their "pup explorers" class. She was once anxious and scared, but now she loves socializing with other dogs and people, and her confidence has soared during this critical developmental stage. The trainers, especially Alicea and Emma, are not only passionate and professional but also make training an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend Barks and Rec. for its dedication to dogs’ well-being and the exceptional socialization and training opportunities they provide.

Kathy at Barks and Rec is a master teacher of dogs and of us humans. This summer we signed up for 3 different classes that were offered, ranging from 4 weeks to 8 weeks. My young wire wiener and I enjoyed the classes so much, and, we learned and practiced so many skills. I think Chummy's favorite class was Nosework. Kathy taught us fun games that a wire wiener would love--sniffing for treats.We also took Better Recalls and Junior Ranger. In each series of classes we learned through positive reinforcement lots of valuable skills, like coming when called, loose leash walking, sit stay, greeting strangers.We can't wait to take more classes next summer.
