“As I reflect on our amazing school year in Kentwood Public Schools—and how intentionally we’ve worked to meet the needs of our beautifully diverse student population in this incredibly diverse district—I’m reminded just how much we have to celebrate.

On the last day of school, we took time to honor every teacher, volunteer, support staff member, and parent who poured into our students. But before I walked out the door to welcome summer, I felt it important to pause and recognize a quiet yet powerful force behind the scenes: our cherished community partner, Kabafusion.

Year after year, often without fanfare or recognition, I receive a call from Mrs. Joyce Jefferson (and yes, she’ll likely be upset I named her). Her simple question always touches my heart: “Can we bless a deserving family or two for Christmas this year?” And every year, that call comes at just the right time—like grace arriving right on schedule.
