Dr. Kelly does an amazing job at administering the eye exam in a relaxed, comfortable way, and the staff on the floor is incredibly helpful when it comes to finding glasses. Jon has helped me and my husband both in finding frames that look great on us at an amazing price. Every person I have worked with at this location has been very friendly and helpful. I only have positive things to say about this place!“

“These docs have given me back my life! Dr feinberg and colleagues are so smart! Many branches of medicine have well-defined areas that they cover. What if nothing is working for you? Never did I imagine I would be one of those odd-ball people for who me nothing works. I suffered with near-daily migraines for 17 years, treated badly by some neurologists, barely able to function, becoming socially isolated bc I was literally so sick and miserable all the time.
Luckily Dr Feinberg and her group know every path, rock and molehill of this weird post-brain-injury territory that traditional medical providers seem to skirt. I was diagnosed with vertical heterophobia amongst other things, and Drs Ferrence and Feinberg explained that due to my response to the glasses, I likely had other issues going on too.
Well, they have a whole team of providers who specialize in these not-uncommon-yet-not-well-known problems. I was referred to an ENT specialist and found to have “third window syndrome” which was making my life living hell and also a constellation of symptoms that many physicians don’t realize go together or are treatable. Surgical correction of this turned me from a near-daily migraineur to someone who has had a mere 7 migraines since 2/1/2024. I was also found to have growth hormone deficiency from the same brain injury that gave me migraines and third window syndrome. My energy is finally coming back. I’m starting to get back to a wt more in line with my pre-injury weight. I can go outside without sunglasses now; it’s not fun, but I’m no longer prostrate on the ground or feeling like I’m going to vomit or having such profuse eye tearing that I effectively can’t see. My hyperacousis and photophobia are much better too. I’m able to work full time and I just returned from a 5 state solo road trip.
All these weird problems now make sense: why I hate unloading the dishwasher, why folding laundry and cleaning house are so difficult: due to the “third window” my body is unable to correctly interpret the stimuli coming into my eyes and ears which causes brain fog, affects my balance and makes a lot of what-should-be-simple, small daily tasks much more difficult and fatiguing. That weird sound in my head wasn’t the lights, it wasn’t tinnitus—it was literally hearing my blood swooshing on the inside of my body, somehow amplified due to this injury. Who would ever think that is possible to hear something like that? And even better than understanding, point me toward the tools and supplementary specialists I need so I don’t keep wasting my time with mediocre doctors who maybe are okay for basic problems, but don’t really have the intellect or framework to begin to design an approach to an “outlier”.
It’s truly mind-boggling how common these problems are, yet how few physicians are adequately trained to evaluate and treat these problems. So grateful for Dr Debbie, her team and her collaborators for the clinical work, education/explaining and research they do. I have a life again!!
Don’t hesitate to make an appt. The care you receive is worth the drive and the cost (for me, the appts covered by my insurance but not the glasses or lenses). If you have anxiety, hear weird creaking or throbbing or swooshing sounds in you head, chronic headaches that nothing seems to really help, have a history of hitting your head even if it didn’t seem like big of a deal at the time, but a few months later your quality of life deteriorated, have inexplicable balance problems or notice you just don’t feel like yourself since that basketball hit you on the head, these folks can help you. It is one of the more strenuous medical exams I have gone through and I’m often wiped out after the appt but wow! I have a life again. And much improved anxiety and independence.“
