“I had a great experience at Sugar Braids. I was a walk in customer and got small medium knotless braids. They look great, and came out neat and light. The owner was very kind and the stylists were pleasant. The price was reasonable and they took me as a walk in. Based off my experience, I would recommend this braid shop!

I appreciate that they used hypoallergenic hair. I also appreciate that the owner took time to check the braids and make some revisions before I left. That extra touch demonstrates care and that she's working towards establishing a standard.

“Response to Delante Bussey: From Owner: As a professional business in Maryland, we maintain high standards of fairness, professionalism, and respect in every client interaction. Our policy requires services to be paid for upfront, which ensures clarity and fairness for both parties.

In this case, two young clients arrived with their father. As a courtesy, I began work before payment was received. The first client’s braids were completed, and the second was halfway done when I requested payment. I allowed the first client to step out to obtain the money from her parent.

At that point, the situation escalated. Rather than providing payment, the parent became disruptive, made false statements, and refused to resolve the matter professionally.

Because payment was not made, I retained the hair extensions used as business property until the issue could be resolved. In retaliation, the parent unnecessarily involved the police and unlawfully removed my business sign.

This behavior was inappropriate and harmful. My business remains committed to professionalism, fairness, and lawful practices, but we will not condone disrespectful conduct or violations of agreements. We will continue to protect our work, our property, and our reputation.“
