Dmv Fire & Flood

We just had a nightmare experience with DMV Fire & Flood, particularly Craig Rosenthal. Craig was sent to our home by WSSC to clean up and assess the damage from a sewage backup due to a blockage in the WSSC sewer. He arrived by himself a full day later and did some initial cleanup. The sewage water had seeped under the flooring in our fully finished basement, which he pointed out to us, and said he'd send someone to remove the flooring. He promised he would put that in the claim he was sending to the WSSC so we could be reimbursed for the flooring, which we installed just 4-5 years back. He also told us that he would include in the claim our Dyson vacuum, which had been standing in the water and was unsafe to use. The next day three men arrived (no Craig this time) and removed the flooring. But when we heard back from WSSC regarding our claim Craig had completely omitted removing the flooring and the vacuum, indicating that all he had done was the cleanup on the first day. When we took this up with WSSC they said they had to go by whatever he had filed because he was the assessor. As a result, we are now left with thousands of dollars worth of damage to our finished basement, not to mention the stress this has caused. When we called Craig, he was in turns rude and dismissive and now he's not returning our calls. We have urged the WSSC to stop using him and DMV as an assessor, and we will follow up with them to make sure he does not continue to hurt other customers like us who trusted him to do his job.
