When MGH said they hadn’t received my referral, I called your front desk several times, but unfortunately most of the staff I spoke with weren’t very helpful and seemed rather indifferent, no one offered to follow up with MGH for me. He first confirmed that my doctor had written the referral, double checked MGH’s fax number, resent the fax, and even called MGH’s team himself to make sure they received it and promised to call me back once their referral team reviewed it.

“As a 37 year old woman, I can tell you that I've always known I wanted children. However, I didn't imagine being single in my late 30's...so after almost 2 years of going back and forth with myself, I finally decided to give my future-self the best chance at having a biological child and I started the process to freeze my eggs. Fertility is personal and emotional and scary but choosing the right doctor makes ALL the difference. The best decision I made was choosing Dr. Jan Shifren at Newton Wellesley Hospital.At my initial assessment, Dr. Shifren walked me through every single step of the process and answered all the questions I could come up with. It only takes a quick google search to learn she's internationally recognized as one of the top physicians in her field of expertise and she's been published in more journals than I could count. What a google search doesn't tell you is how truly wonderful she is as a person. Dr. Shifren is so thoughtful, knowledgeable, transparent, upfront and honest. I never felt rushed at our appointments (virtual and in-person) and Dr. Shifren was by my side, from start to finish. She has a truly incredible team of nurses, technicians and administrators who keep you feeling positive throughout the journey and take great care of you at each appointment.After meeting with Dr. Shifren, I worked with her billing department to understand all the financial costs associated with the procedure and they gave me a very easy to understand price breakdown. A few months after our initial appointment it was March of 2022, and I was ready to go. At that time I started working very closely with Zuzana, her incredible nurse who was by my side for the next 2 weeks walking me through the process. Zuzana and her colleagues were very quick to respond to my emails with questions or concerns and always had all the answers right away. Once the process begins, you are going into their office at NWH anywhere from 2-4 times a week for blood draws and ultrasounds. All the ultrasound technicians are great and be sure to get your blood drawn by Grace, she will make your day every time you see her.I felt really taken care of on an emotional and physical level which is what you want and what you need to get through this process. My patient experience could not have been any better and I would highly recommend choosing Dr. Shifren and her team at NWH if you are looking into freezing your eggs.-Melissa“

“I am shocked by the negative reviews here! I completed my 3rd visit with Newton Wellesley Dermatology yesterday, each with Ms. Marya Woodruff Ochs who I highly recommend. My first visit was for an annual body skin check where a biopsy was performed on a suspicious spot and thankfully negative. The next two visits were for cosmetic purposes, specifically the freezing of sun spots on my face. I returned because I was so very pleased with the dramatic results of the first visit. “I really love my NP here. Minus a star (probably should be two) for lack of billing transparency. Apparently the entire Boston One Medical network bills under Mass General Brigham Community (NPI 1265094122). So even through One Medical is supposedly in network for my insurance, all Boston offices are out of network when you get down to the actual billing.

Be sure to call your insurance to check before you get a $550 out of network bill for a 20 min PCP appointment!“
