“I went to Bay State Physical Therapy in Ipswich to treat a pulled hamstring and nerve pain shooting from my lumbar spine down the back of my leg. My pain level was severe. I could not walk more than 5 minutes at a time and was not able to do most tasks at home. Normally an active person, I was extremely inactive because of the pain and had been like this for 3 months.
NICK was my therapist and he was outstanding! He is very thoughtful in his approach and was skillful in guiding me through his program. He listens well and we talked at every session of how the exercises were feeling to my body. His initial focus was on core, hamstring and low back. It was a steady progression of flexibility and strengthening and he seemed to know just what I needed without overdoing it. Most of my exercises used my own body weight with some using exercise bands and an exercise ball. After my 3 months at Bay State PT, the nerve pain was gone and the pulled hamstring was resolved. I was able to resume all of the activities I normally do and was even able to ski a few days which I did not expect to happen. Administratively, Katrina was extremely helpful getting me started with the intake forms. She booked appointments a month in advance which locked in the same days of the week and time of day which worked great for me. They also provide an app which is very helpful. For me, it was 2 days a week at Bay State and 3 days using the in-home exercises. I was able to make a lot of progress this way. I can’t recommend this place enough. The staff is friendly and skilled. I had seen a physiatrist who recommended surgery but the surgeon said PT first. Thanks to Nick the results exceeded my expectations and I avoided surgery. I am so happy I went to Bay State Physical Therapy in Ipswich.“
