After YEARs of getting glasses from online stores like Warby and Zenni (and having MIGRAINES the entire time), I finally went to this brick and mortar independent shop and I'm SO GLAD I did.
I had optical migraines for TWO YEARS every single day because the online glasses makers weren't getting my prism specifications correct – even though I'd uploaded my prescription properly and paid extra for the prism.
The glasses I got from Amherst Optical were 3x more expensive but well worth every penny. I got my first pair here two years ago and my migraines have completely gone away. The glasses are also way more durable. I just bought my second pair here after two years of wearing that first pair.
The customer service is AMAZING. They're so kind and explain absolutely everything so you know what you're getting, what you need, and why you might have been struggling with whatever you had before.
The absolute best part of this was that I didn't really have to do any decision making. The first pair of frames they picked for me were PERFECT and honestly not a style I'd have ever picked out for myself. They look SO GOOD on me, I just got the exact some ones for my second pair. I love not having to make a ton of choices and wondering if they'll look good or waiting for try on pairs in the mail, etc.
They're super quick, too. I got my new glasses in just 4 days each time.
Anyway, TL;DR: I 10/10 recommend Amherst Optical and I will probably get my glasses here for the rest of my life. They're well worth it.

I was helped by Trish today regarding a possible wisdom teeth removal, and although I could not get an appointment for today since my situation should be taken care of asap, Trish was of extreme good help. She was able to recommend me to other offices that might take walk-in patients, advise me on my how to take care of my situation and even checked in a doctor to give me a possible diagnosis to the problem that i’m having. She called me back three times when I didn’t answer the first two, just to let me know she didn’t have any emergency appointments available and to give me that possible diagnosis. Hess McWilliams has been a God send. For a new farmer they have provided so much assistance, tips, advice, and worked above and beyond for every animal every time called on. They follow up and respond days and weeks after the visit. I was getting answers and support from a vet on vacation! The whole team, Dr. Hess, McWilliams, Barstow, and Latham have all worked with me at various times, and they are all wonderful, knowledgeable, and very supportive!

It's homey, quaint and full of kimd people! Quick response, emergency visits and VERY reasonable pricing! Took amazing care of my pup who has been having hip issues. They didn't force expensive procedures or nickle and dime me with unnecessary treatment! My cat had an emergency resulting in an urgent need for an ASAP appointment, they got me in 20 minutes after my frantic phone call. Got him evaluated, shaved, xrays, and stitches all within two hours of me dropping him off! Gave me an estimated cost beforehand and offered several options in case budgeting was an issue! I cannot recommend them enough! (I was sent there by the animal control officer of Granby MA! Makes sense they'd be amazing!)
