The staff are very friendly, attentive and welcoming. The Veterinarian was very gentle and informative. I highly recommend the practice.“

4211Jefferson Hwy, Jefferson“We went today and had to say goodbye to our dear elderly cat. It was one of the worst days of my life, but I found solace in the amazing humans there. Everyone was unbelievably kind, from the receptionist to the nurse to the doctor and especially the manager (thank you, from the bottom of my heart). They all made sure my dear girl felt the warmth and love of not just her family, but everyone she came into contact with on her final day. I lost my best friend, but it was moving to see so many great humans rallying to help, even though we were completely new and they never met us before. It restored some hope on a very dark day. Thank you Ark. May all furry friends feel the love and compassion my girl did on their last day.“

6245 Memphis St, New Orleans“We moved to New Orleans and were struggling to find a vet we liked, but we love love love the team at Lakeview.
We have two French Bulldogs which always comes with extra complications/vet bills and Dr. Goldman and Dr. Guichard are both incredibly helpful with brachycephalic dog breed specific issues. They really go the extra mile to make sure your pet is taken care of and they are also aware of avoiding extra costs.
We have done our routine care with them as well as two surgeries, can’t recommend them enough.“

3501 S Carrollton Ave, New Orleans“We have been coming to Carrollton vet with our dog since our old vet(s) retired, after we searched for years for another amazing private vet practice. Dr Algero is caring and knowledgeable. He is patient in explaining what he believes might be going on, the tests (if any) necessary, next steps, any meds he thinks might help, side effects, etc, and always a clear explanation of why and our options. Vets like Dr Algero are the best - they only care about what's best for your pet and work with you all the way. They are walk-in only, but they are clear about that and they let you know if there's a long wait (emergency ahead of you) or other factors. Their rates are very reasonable imo. I know they treat her well and compassionately when she goes to the back with them, which is important to us. His assistants (Nester & Jerry) are involved, always gentle and greet Belle so she's never balked at going back or being handled by them. They are prompt answering their phones, return calls when they say they will and Pam at the front desk always gets me whatever documentation I need when I ask.“

213 Live Oak St, Metairie“They have taken great care of my pets for almost 8 years. They are very good with my anxious dog. Well priced. Won't sell you procedures or meds your animals don't need. Keeps us updated on vaccinations so I don't have to think about it.
Great for continuing treatment of any of your pets conditions.“

Dr. Kreider and Dr. Merriwether have provided excellent care for my anxious kitty and have helped us work through many illnesses and behavioral situations over the years. They are always right on the money with their recommendations and treatment plans. We trust them completely! We love that they know exactly who we are every time we call and are so genuinely excited to see Minnie. We also love the consistency in care. Most of the staff has been there since the beginning of our journey with Lake Animal. They are so caring and just a great Vet all around!“

Recently I had two of my (indoor only) cats get sick and he had them feeling and looking better in just a day or two. My dog also needed surgery and he did an amazing job with that. I would highly recommend Dr. McKenna to anyone with fur babies.“

“Chateau Veterinary Hospital was absolutely amazing—especially if you’re traveling internationally with a pet, or honestly, if you just need an exceptional vet.
They handled our international health certificate for our dog, Chester, and our cat, Muscade, and made what is usually a very stressful process feel completely manageable. Summer Stein was our main point of contact, and she is truly an expert when it comes to international travel paperwork. Dr. Fraser completed the health screening, and the entire process was seamless.
One huge bonus that not many people realize: if you’re traveling with two pets, they can be listed on one health certificate. That alone saved us time, money, and unnecessary stress.
Before finding Chateau, I had reached out to several clinics and felt overwhelmed and unsure. The moment Summer answered my call, I felt confident we were in the right hands—and I was right. We arrived in France with zero issues.
One very important tip for anyone traveling internationally with pets: yes, the health certificate must be validated within 10 days of travel, but your vet appointment should be scheduled at least one month before your departure. This allows enough time for the USDA to process, endorse, and mail everything back to you. Summer guided us through this timing perfectly.
I also really appreciated that they had us test anti-anxiety medication before travel to ensure the correct dosage. Best advice ever. It made a world of difference knowing exactly what Chester needed—and to be clear, these are not tranquilizers, which are forbidden for international travel. We even had to recheck Chester in Paris for our connecting flight to Nice. He refused additional medication at that point but still did very well. There were no issues—no barking, no complaints from airline staff, and he remained calm throughout the entire process. He was understandably nervous by the time we picked him up in Nice, but he was completely okay. I was nervous about giving him medication in the first place, but testing it ahead of time and following their guidance truly paid off.
Another thing worth mentioning: Chester is an anxious dog when it comes to vet visits. He’s sweet—not aggressive—just scared. The team handled his exam and vaccinations with patience, calm, and confidence. They clearly know how to work thoughtfully with nervous animals, and that meant a lot to us.
I also really appreciated that they offer happy visits, where you can stop in without an appointment just to help your pet feel comfortable with the vet and environment—no exam, no stress, just positive exposure.
Beyond all of that, this is simply an outstanding veterinary office. Everyone is incredibly kind, organized, professional, welcoming, and knowledgeable—what more could you ask for? It’s clearly a locally owned practice, not a corporate chain, and that shows in every interaction. I had a terrible experience at a corporate vet prior to this, and honestly, I’m grateful for it because it led me to Chateau Veterinary Hospital.
Thank you so much to the entire team at Chateau Veterinary Hospital. We truly couldn’t have done this without you. We’re now happily settled and enjoying our life in France.“
