“My landmarked historic home was badly damaged by a tree in 2022 and Becker Roofing was on the roof the very next day getting it covered to prevent water damage. They closed everything up quickly and effectively until insurance could get out to see it and the full repairs could be done. They did the repairs to the roof and damaged vent and it looks perfect. It is nearly impossible to identify the areas that were restored.Further, the plans they drew up to address and replace the wrecked gutters addressed the challenges of a historic house while improving efficiency. They also work with a team of outstanding masons who have beautifully repaired damaged areas of brick.Becker Roofing's quick, effective and professional efforts to protect the house are only reason I did not have water damage after a catastrophic incident or during the winter that followed it. I cannot stress enough how fortunate I am that they handled this.They have navigated the nonsense that is the insurance process with aplomb, communicate professionally and do beautiful work. They have time and again met the requirements of the Preservation Commission and have made sure this landmarked house will continue to be a thing of beauty.In 2023, Becker took on the demolition and building of a new detached garage next to my landmarked house. Once again they navigated Evanston's challenging landmarks restrictions, extremely slow permit process and myriad roadblocks with panache. “Finding a reputable roofer out of thousands can be overwhelming. I selected Jack (Jacek) Lekarczyk, owner of J.L. Contractor Services LTD, out of five (5) proposals. They were the only contractor with expertise in both roofing and exterior home improvement. Their “scope of work” was meticulously detailed. Their prices were transparent, to fully disclose all costs.My project began mid-December and required intricate work on the structural frameworks of my brick home and brick garage. Jack deployed multiple teams of “master craftsmen” in roofing, carpentry, aluminum, windows etc, in anticipation of Chicago’s unpredictable weather. Each day, crews arrived an hour early, by 7:00 am, and seemed to work nonstop until the job was done.Visually, it was a spectacular job-site with complex scaffolding and industrial equipment. The massive crew of “seasoned pros'' were of the highest caliber of craftsmanship. They were polite, considerate, “masters of their trade” who took pride in their work. They valued teamwork, like a “colony of ants”, for flawless execution with remarkable precision to stay on schedule.Jack was the only contractor who promised (in his proposal) to show photos for “visual proof” if additional expenses were warranted, (i.e., the replacement of rotten wood). Most impressive, he included the “panoramic photos” in his progress reports which captured entire work sites and surroundings from the sky to the ground. I could see everything as if I was standing on the roof.My new roofs are absolutely stunning! The value-added “fine-tuning” of the project, although unexpected, enhanced my property’s appearance and curb appeal in ways I never imagined. Scores of “gapers" in cars and on foot marveled at the amazing transformation.
