844 Madison St, Oak Park“My middle school kid has been taking guitar lessons for over a year with an OPSM instructor and loves it. She looks forward to her weekly lesson so much, which is a testament to how enjoyable the instructor is. And she surprised me by secretly learning to play one of my favorite songs, with the very competent instructor's guidance (who apparently learned it over youtube by watching the musical artist play it at a concert). My kid has never complained about lessons--they are apparently that much fun! And my kid is learning a ton!“

2124 W Lawrence Ave 2nd floor, Chicago“Both of our children have been part of Musical Chairs for several years, and we truly can’t say enough good things about this organization—especially its leadership. The team is deeply committed to helping students grow, not just creatively, but academically and personally as well. Through thoughtful mentoring and engaging instruction, kids gain confidence and become better students. The classes are fun, well-organized, and fit seamlessly into our school schedule. We wholeheartedly recommend Musical Chairs to any student. Supporting this program means supporting the arts and a wonderful local small business—it’s truly a gem.“

400 Nuttall Rd, Riverside“When my 3 year old played in her first recital after a few months of studying with Miss Nissa, I had no idea how it would go. Would she throw herself on the floor? Would she belt out "Let It Go" from the stage? Would she cry and refuse to bow to the audience?
I didn't need to be afraid. She did exactly as she had practiced - a deep bow that was met with thunderous applause and her stunned exhilaration. She practically floated back to her seat. Later, when we walked to the car, she held my hand and stopped me to say something I never expected to hear: "Mommy, thank you for believing in me."
And my heart exploded.
Nissa has created an environment where my daughter and I have this incredibly special activity we do together. It's our thing. And in so many ways, it's a metaphor for our broader relationship: exciting, creative, frustrating, confounding, loving and hilarious. We have so many games to play (pretend angry/goofy/happy fingertips), songs to sing and so many recital outfits to plan. And we have to work through the hard parts together, and our bond is stronger for it.
Violin brings me closer to my child, but it also gives her another adult to love, too. My child adores Nissa. She gives her running leaping hugs. She steals her chocolate kisses and they joke about it. She takes great pride in wiping off Nissa's dry erase board. She is entirely herself in Nissa's classroom.
There are so many more great things I could say, and so many more examples I could give, but the most important to me is this: Nissa has proven time and again that she is such a special teacher. She has texted me from her class at professional development conferences because she's so excited about a new idea to engage my kid. She delivered a note from the "Violin Fairy" to clarify that her bow should be used only in specific ways - and the note was hand decorated with a fairy, purple flowers and glitter. She brings the kids together after their recital to do yoga because she knows they need to decompress.
I'm so happy that Anderson Music Studio is part of our lives. It's one of the best investments our family has made. And whether or not my child ever plays violin professionally or recreationally as an adult, it has deepened our family's ability to love and appreciate music together.“

1609 W Jarvis Ave, Chicago“My daughters have been taking piano lessons with Jared for about 5 years now and we love him! My girls are in high school and I’m grateful that they enjoy practicing and playing piano thanks to him! He has the best advice to help them master the music pieces and learn proper techniques. Jared is very organized and dependable. He’s written music since the pandemic and it’s very good!“

“My daughter and I have been taking violin lessons together with Sarah Gasse for four years. Sarah's style is laid back, adaptable, and she meets the student at their level. She does not shame, and we learn a lot, while we're able to have fun in the lessons! I have never seen a child upset while at this studio - and while learning something difficult like a string instrument - that's impressive! If you're looking for a kind and encouraging studio for your kiddos (or yourself!) look no further. Sarah is the salt of the earth.“
