“We finally decided to get our windows replaced in our two-flat. The wood was rotten. We live on a busy street, we hear traffic, ambulances and police cars. We needed to do soundproofing and it was cold because of the single pane original windows. We had stained glass windows in our house. We were trying to salvage our stained glass windows and have those reinsulated. Revisions was not able to save our stained glass windows. They carefully took out the stained glass windows.Revisions Windows specialize in Marvin. We were going to go with Marvin windows versus Pella. We discovered that many window vendors don’t work with Marvin. We got a couple different quotes and it was very difficult. There were vendors that came to our home and did not want to take the job because they were not comfortable working with an old home and old windows. We also have original woodwork framing the windows, and they were concerned that they were going to destroy the woodwork. That limited us to just a few window companies. Revision windows had a salesperson that was meticulous, diligent, and detail focused. They were the most expensive company that we had quoted. The salesperson, came to our house often, made several phone calls to us, talked to the Marvin, took measurements. He sent people out to look and take measurements again. I could tell that he didn't want to make any errors in the job, but also wanted the project because it was interesting and challenging. Our house now has a completely different vibe. The sunlight comes in beautifully. The windows are easy to open. They're quiet, they're insulated and much easier to clean. They're just perfect. I really do love the Marvin brand. The installers and the workmen do a great job. They are employed by Revisions and have been working with the company for years. There is a lot of knowledge and experience with the carpenters, and they had a great rapport between them when they were here. They had me cracking up several times on the job.The salesperson who sold us the package understood our concerns about protecting our wood floors and our piano. We have bookshelves that I was concerned about the dust and the dirt. He worked closely with us to make sure that we had better floor coverings. When asked how many workers were going to be in the home and he said anywhere from five to seven, I said, oh great, we need to get a porta potty for the crew. He replied no, he wouldn't get one and got extremely upset by my request and said he wouldn't take the job if we didn't allow the workman to use our bathroom. And I said, we have only one bathroom, there are four males plus me living in our home. And I clean it, so am unable to manage 10-12 males using our bathroom. He almost actually lost the job because I explained that he wouldn't be able to have our job without a porta potty on site. He indicated that he never had a request from a client ever asking for a porta potty before. I felt it was an odd hill to die on. The job was a 10+ day job. He finally said let me get back to you, I'll talk to my boss and he talked to his boss. His boss said, of course we will do a porta potty! He called me back and said he didn't know that they'd had a porta potty at a site before. He did apologize to me for fighting me on the porta potty. It just didn't make sense but it ended up working out. There was also another odd moment where the salesperson was demanding full payment before the job was done. There were no signals from me that we were dissatisfied and wouldn’t pay. He made me walk to my l bank with a worker and get the money before the workers would even set foot into the house. If you are considering Revisions, be aware of that rule that have. Even though I was yelled at and received gruff treatment by the salesperson, this did not outweigh the very high quality of service that our family received from the carpenters that came in to do the windows. The best carpenters I've ever worked with and we've done a lot of work on this home. I would hire Re“

“Was really happy with the work from US Exteriors. They installed new insulation and siding. Even installed some new spotlights for me! The 2 guys that did the installation and the owner, Conrad, were all very attentive to any concerns I had and addressed them promptly. They gave attention to detail and were neat. They also put back/installed the details from the outside lights, mailbox, hooks for a swing and hooks for a clothesline. Would recommend them to anyone for a siding project.“

“Keith and his team replaced our 50+ year old first and second floor windows in 2018, including large living and dining room windows. Last week he completed replacing our basement windows. Keith is professional, honest, highly knowledgeable, diligent, and responsive. He provided excellent communication throughout these projects. We teased him about setting our clocks based on his precise arrival for meetings. Keith guided us to windows which have proven to insulate our home exceptionally well, while quieting the house significantly. Besides the window’s high quality, I am sure this is due the professional installation, where the craftmanship and attention to detail is evident.Keith also recommended several reliable vendors who successfully completed some smaller maintenance projects recently. This speaks to his industry knowledge and relationship building. We highly recommend Keith and his team without reservation. They are a pleasure to work with. We have certainly benefitted greatly from his and his team’s professionalism and expertise.Services: General window replacement“

“This is a few years late but I did want to hold out and see how well the windows and sliding door performed during the winter / summer.Well, they're performing great. Prior to my house had an old single pane with storm window setup. The biggest problem was actually just not being able to open them all up as my house was a foreclosure and the company they hired painted over everything and I do mean everything. I scraped away what I could and got the windows to open a reasonable amount. Anyway, the breaking point was over time the expansion contraction made some cracks massive, caused breaks, etc and I had ran out of leftover panes and parts the previous homeowner had lying around in the shed. The whole ordeal was great with one side mention which I'll cover around the end and perhaps Phil can speak to it as well. But Phil was great, clear explanations and would always check in on and explain any questions we had.Installation was supposed to be two days but winter was coming in soon. Not sure if the installers were making good time and wanted to get it out of the way or if they didn't want me to deal with a cold house. Either way, they got it done in one day, one very long day. It was cold outside I told them they could have their lunch inside, they politely refused. After finishing their lunch they thanked me for the offer and then explained that if they did that, they would get acclimated and then when they go back out to work it would not be comfortable. I actually know that to be 100% true so told them I get it.Anyway at any questionable point the installers grabbed me and told me what was going on, what my options were, possible issues, etc. Most of these were actually pretty minor, but this told me the Varco installers cared enough about their work and my approval to loop me in. Good stuff. There were only two items which were a larger issue both had the same issue. The old windows were very old and over time water crept in and caused wood rot at the sill. Also I don't think the original installed used pressure treated wood, or it was that old, which is standard where wood meets concrete/brick/stone/etc. The sill still gets wrapped around with vinyl on the exterior side, the actual structure didn't have rot.The installers still wanted to let me know about this which was good to know but as they had solid structure and showed me, I was okay with them proceeding. By the way, that was a remnant of old construction, new construction doesn't even have that bit as we've come a long way with energy efficiency. They removed all the rot they could and continued on with the job. There was a concern that something broke offloading from shipping. Phil and I were concerned, Phil not so much, he had an idea it was a flange but wasn't 100% sure what it was. He called and found out they shipped the sliding door with a nailing flange for some reason or another. At my house, it's surrounded by brick and on concrete, a nailing flange isn't needed ... or going to work - unless you want an ugly sliding door installation. Now here's the side mention. Des Plaines follows the IRC (International Residential Code) and the IRC is applicable for all single / double family homes. Then there's mentions by the Illinois State Fire Marshall and the NFPA (Nat'l Fire Protection Association). It says you want an egress with a minimum opening of basically 5.7 feet squared in any living area when the primary means of exit is not accessible. I won't bore you with the minimum height and window requirements as there's more to this which I hope Phil and or someone at Varco can explain.I had several quotes of which I believe two mentioned egress rules and presented me with vertical sliding windows which would meet egress. I mentioned this to Phil and he said he could do vertical but that means something else. I didn't quite get it then, I still don't get it, but I wanted horizontal windows as my in-window fans and AC are built for horizontal windows, not vertical. So I didn't“

“We had about 5 or 6 different companies come and give us quotes for Hardie siding and roofing. Keenan Homes was competitively priced and did an amazing job. Pat Keenan, the owner, was the salesperson and oversaw the project end to end. He kept us informed throughout the entire process, they were able to get to us within a few weeks, and they found a lot of ways to add value beyond the scope of work. The crews were all very professional. At the end of the project I noticed a few screens were ripped during the project and Pat personally came over to pick them up and get them rescreened. We love our new home and will definitely use Keenan in future projects!“
