“I've hired Reid Custom Construction for several renovations and relied on Karl Reid for construction advice buying homes for at least twenty years. Karl is a builder and knows code inside and out. He adds value to every project and I trust his sound judgment complemented by his witty humor. As a general contractor, he oversaw ripping off and building a new roof, eradicating pests and blowing in new insulation at my parents' original home to remediate water penetration and infestation. He rebuilt my kitchen in Chicago when no one else I consulted could figure out how to make the design work around a fixed soffit and mechanicals. The end product was a show kitchen we loved. He rebuilt an entry stairway and upgraded my kitchen at my next home and consulted on a major garage and low deck build-out involving complex steel construction to fire rate and comply with building codes to permit the project. “CJD did a great job with our basement repair (drywall, paint and crown molding). We had some water damage from an ice machine failing. Rob gave a fair quote, has a great attention to the details and the work was completed on time and on budget. Their team was very courteous and always wore masks. We hardly knew they were working in our home! Most importantly, CJD was very capable and proactive in dealing with our insurance company to make sure we had all costs covered.
