I left home via CTA 2.5 hours early. 2 minutes late, I received a phone call from Gene. He was really rude as I explained why I was late. He kept asking “but why are you late”. I hung up after explaining myself several times. I got to the office 7 minutes late, and he said they couldn’t see me that day. Understood because I was was late. I rescheduled for a week later, woke up 5 hours before the appointment, and showed up 1.5 hours early. The front office male handed me paperwork to sign. He took a photo of my ID with his phone and then called someone, presumably to discuss me. I looked at the paperwork I was handed. It was a different “Benjamin”, last initial “S”. It had his PII (Personal Identifiable Information), a blatant HIPPA violation. When I told the male it wasn’t my information, he said I wasn’t scheduled. I called the vendor who scheduled me, and they confirmed I was scheduled. I had a FEDEX letter, voicemails, texts, and emails, and an online confirmation of my appointment. This office still insisted that I wasn’t scheduled and they wouldn’t see me. I wasted another day of work called off and about 7 hours of travel time and trying to sort this. This has been an incredibly unfortunate series of events with this office. Why this office still gets to see veterans is beyond my understanding. They should be dropped from this contract. Shame on the VA for letting this office continue to waste the time of veterans.
