My favorite Hy-Vee on the east side for prepared foods. It's older than the Waterfront Hy-Vee, which is our go-to for Aisles Online orders. The 1st Ave. location has a nostalgic feel to it; kind of like the Johnson Ave. location in Cedar Rapids. Recommend if you don't want to have to prepare dinner. They have so much. So much that some portions of the store seemed tight to navigate through. Parking lot can be cramped. They have an Iowa City Public Library return box.

I would give Laurel, the floral manager, 10 stars if I could. He is truly a floral genius! My daughter came in with a vision that was hard to articulate and 1 picture. Laurel created beautiful bouquets, floral arrangements for 17 tables, and decorated a large outdoor arch. Everything he did exceeded our expectations. Throughout the night, many of the guests commented on the floral arrangements and all wanted to know who created them. Thank you, Laurel, for flawlessly making my daughter's vision a reality.
