Although I was classically trained in piano growing up, I found myself nervous to pickup a new instrument in my 30's. I am so glad I chose Dave to be my teacher because he is incredibly adept at adjusting to what the student needs, both short term and long term. Even though I had to step away from some hobbies after a year due to my work schedule, I am still grateful for all of the tools he equipped me with when I'm ready to pick up the bass again.
He strikes the perfect balance of pushing and supporting which I value highly in a teacher. I highly recommend him as a teacher; you won't regret it!
Dave is an awesome music teacher! He has taught my daughter both bass and guitar and we have been thrilled with the lessons and how Dave works with our daughter.
His musical expertise is of course off the charts but Dave also has a gift for communicating with kids, fostering and cultivating their knowledge and love of music. Dave is flexible and makes sure to mix in list theory with learning fun songs, riffs etc. we couldn’t be happier with Dave and recommend Small Steps highly!
I've been studying with Dave for a number of years, and each step of my journey he has been patient, adopted his teaching style to my needs, and made sure to combine a solid foundation with actually having fun learning and playing music. I started barely knowing a couple of chords on the guitar to composing and engineering my own compositions with guitar, bass, and keyboard. Whatever your level and goals, Dave is the right teacher to achieve whatever next steps you are aiming for.
