After my phone call with Chris at HMSA today AND after dealing with their automated phone system, I will be cancelling my insurance as soon as possible.

Regarding the phone system: It was either never adequately quality tested OR the company (HMSA) is using it to frustrate patients into giving up on calling them for help.

Regarding Chris: I told him I had a general question about coverage for a specific procedure. He asked me if it was about a service my wife had recently. I said it was related to billing on her service, but I told him I only wanted the general policy of HMSA regarding this service (as to when it would be considered preventive or diagnostic). I called today because I was billed for medical service from a mainland pathologist office for last year's services and couldn't understand why. Summer patiently explained why and I was able to process my payment today. Thank you for the great service.

Refused to apply approvals on file while in multi-organ failure, created internal notes telling employees not to take my calls, even after a state hearing in favor of approval, HMSA continued to deny all claims. I am permanently disabled and financially destitute after HMSA destroyed my families lives. Not a new problem, HMSA is responsible for my son's death by refusing medical care and obstructing continuity of care and consistent access to seizure medications. He died of seizure complications at 8 yrs old after yet another delay in getting his meds.
