My husband and I were in Gainesville overnight on the 7&8 of Oct. I stepped on my glasses, destroying them. I drove home with sunglasses. On Wed., the 9th, as Milton loomed over florida, I looked for an open optical store. Stanton on 20th street was all that was available. I rushed in and was greeted by Doug, who asked "What's your emergency?" I showed him my mangled glasses and he said he could take care of that. Within 15 minutes, he found a frame that fitted my lenses, popped them in, cleaned them and sent me on my way. Dough saved my day, and I was ready to hunker down until "Uncle Miltie" passed through. Thank you, Doug, for taking care of business in the face of a hurricane of epic proportions. P.S. I went back after the storm, got my prescription updated and ordered two new pair.
