“I cannot say enough good things about the care Clyde received today, specifically from Ashton and Dr. Hoffman.

Clyde came from an incredibly difficult past, and because of that, he is understandably very fearful of people he doesn’t know. I like to joke that my “family tree” is more of a “lemon tree,” and Clyde is no exception. After quite literally catching him when Animal Control had given up, rehabilitating him, and spending years earning his trust; bringing him somewhere unfamiliar and placing his care into someone else’s hands is not something I take lightly.

Ashton took the time to meet Clyde exactly where he was. She never made him feel like he had to be “brave,” never rushed him, and did everything she could to make the experience feel safe and comfortable for him. She paid attention to his body language, respected his boundaries, and gave him the patience and reassurance he needed. Because of that, and more specifically her, he did absolutely fantastic.

As someone who also works in veterinary medicine, I know the difference between simply getting a patient through an appointment and genuinely caring about how that patient experiences it. Fearful animals aren’t difficult animals—they’re animals communicating that they don’t feel safe yet. Having a veterinary team that understands and respects that distinction means everything, and Ashton and Dr. Hoffman proved today that they do.

Clyde has already had enough experiences in his life that taught him people can be scary. Today, Pine Meadow Veterinary Clinic gave him an experience that taught him the opposite.

There is something incredibly meaningful about watching a dog who once had every reason not to trust people be met with patience, compassion, and respect—and then watching him decide that he can trust them anyway.

I’m incredibly grateful for the care Clyde received and so proud of how well he did.
