About Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale

Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale is located steps away from historic Yale University in downtown New Haven, CT. It serves as a refined retreat with a panoramic 19th-floor restaurant, stylish lounge bar, chic coffee shop, and a luxurious spa. The hotel features elegant rooms and suites equipped with marble bathrooms and flat-screen TVs, though some guests note that the rooms are small and in need of renovation. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with some offering a great view of the city from the window. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds and hot water, and many find the beds very cozy. The lobby has a charming, old-fashioned feel, and the hotel provides thoughtful touches like dishes for pets. While the hotel offers great convenience for walking to Yale and nearby attractions such as museums, boutiques, and the Shubert Theater, some reviews mention that the surrounding neighborhood can feel unsafe at night due to young people, noise, and vagrants. However, guests emphasize that this isn't the hotel's fault and that law enforcement should be contacted if needed. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful, with standout service from the reception team and the concierge, who is highly praised. The hotel’s coffee shop, ‘Morsel’s,’ is welcoming and offers Yale and New Haven souvenirs, along with interesting books about the city's history. Dining options receive praise, with evening room service being delicious and breakfast delightful, often accompanied by breathtaking city views. The fitness center on the 3rd floor is a nice feature, and the 19th-floor restaurant and bar provide a stylish place to relax. Parking is available for $25 for self-parking and $30 for valet, which some guests find steep but typical for the area. The garage can be a bit dark but is navigable. There is also a small café and gift shop in the lobby with friendly staff. Overall, the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale is a good choice for those prioritizing location, comfort, and friendly service despite some mixed reviews about neighborhood safety and room quality.

My room was very clean and comfortable, with a view of the back side of the hotel. Pros: There are so many places to visit that are walkable from the hotel and you have everything you need within walking distance. I'm also thankful for the complimentary waters, toothpaste, and toothbrush. Cons: you can hear other guests slamming doors, flushing toilets, street noise, and there are a lot of homeless in the area, but it's still considered safe during the day and evening. One ask for improvement is to have more staff at the front desk checking guests in during the 4:00 p.m. check-in time. After traveling all day it was hard to wait in line for as long as I did just to get...read full review

I stayed at the Omni for two nights. Its location is a short walk to State Street Station and within walking distance to many downtown attractions like shops, restaurants and clubs. This also leads to problems like unhoused persons sleeping outside the hotel, beggars asking for change and staggering drunkards. The streets in this area carry the smell of urine. This is no fault of the hotel. The staff were welcoming and polite. You can tell they went out of their way to be accommodating. I did witness management arguing with an employee in the lobby in front of guests which I thought was unprofessional. The lobby was cold and the rooms were cold even after adjusting the...read full review

Thanks to Trischa at front desk, they are all very helpful. Thanks to boys at storage room and service on floor. Very friendly bartenders and dinning front desk service. Like everyone here is super nice and friendly, although they are all busy on their work and service. Room is clean and well maintained, nothing like aged building. Steps away from various restaurants and they have a very good restaurant and bar, with wonderful views. Definitely recommended.
