“I’ll start by saying that I was there as support for my 86 yo Dad not myself so I was able to observe quite clearly. Second, I believe that knowledge is paramount but friendliness matters a lot to me.
In order of operations: one should know that the parking at the Sandalwood location is not great. It’s mostly street parking so there is a bit of walking depending. I saw 2 cars going the wrong way through it as well and it’s pretty tight so be aware. At the front desk, we were greeted by Mike- he was very friendly and welcoming- just what you need at the front desk. Thank you, Mike!
Waiting room is spacious and comfortable so nice place to wait. It was there I had interaction with a tech, Regina. Regina was dilating a patients eyes in the waiting room- which was odd to me but ok. Regina couldn’t muster a smile but also ok. Not our tech. We were called back by our tech whose name I do not know as she wasn’t wearing a name tag. She was not very friendly at all. Seemed competent in her work but didn’t seem to be a very friendly person which is a shame. They should remember that people don’t want to be there- and a little friendliness goes a long way. Next we met Dr James Burden. Now THIS GUY was all your want- super friendly, super knowledgable and really helped put us at ease as far as what to expect. Thanks Doc! Can’t wait for March! And then our surgery scheduler, Selena, was great as well- friendly, organized, informative. Great interaction to end the visit.
4 stars and not 5 because the techs there have some work to do on how they interact with their patients IMO. Crack a smile, don’t look bothered and at least act like you enjoy your job. That helps the customer feel like they made the right decision. But truly 5 stars for Mike, Dr Burden and Selena. Good start. Hoping that surgery and after continue the goodness. We shall see. Literally.“

We recently moved to Pueblo and Academy Kids Vision came highly recommended. From the minute we walked in the door until the moment we walked out everyone was highly attentive. We have been to many pediatric eye doctors and none compared. The staff is highly knowledgeable and accommodating. My daughter doesn’t enjoy doctors visits but immediately asked when she could come back for her new glasses. Thank you for making today’s appointment a breeze.“

“The staff was courteous, and professional, always smiling, and appeared to work well together. I just had one page of paperwork to fill out, then they took me back and started working on my eye exam. It was not a long wait for the Optometrist, he was also professional, courteous and had a sense of hummer. I liked that he helped me pick out glasses that looked good on me, ones that I would have a hard time braking, and covered by my insurance.“

“If you are a parent then you may have experienced your child getting injured and it frightening you to the core. My son had a really scary eye injury and I called 3 different places before this office was willing to see us super short notice instead of us sitting at urgent care and not even seeing an eye doctor. This office was there for us with no questions asked. They took us right away, the doctor came in right away and gave my son a super thorough exam. He reassured us that our son would be okay and gave us drops to take home. We are not even patients there and they treated us like a patient. We will come back in the future if we need eye care for certain! I was really impressed with how nice the girls are up front, the office is clean and they have a bunch of awards on their wall from Pueblo. They were our heros today!“
