“Peek Funeral fell short on some major areas, which I outline below. But because it also fulfilled key aspects of planning a Vietnamese funeral in a non-flakey, mostly compassionate, and earnest manner, I steer toward 4 stars rather than 3 stars, and outline serious feedback I hope they think about improving on. I sincerely hope that operations, professionalism, and customer service improve so that this entity can be even better, as it plays host to a key Vietnamese immigrant population of the entire world outside of Vietnam.(+) Well-versed in Vietnamese Buddhist traditions for planning a ceremony. Worked well with the temple monks we worked with for prayers during the service. Provided us with the starting point/outline of the day-of service schedule. But then it fell on the monks to fill our day and give us a special memorial just like the ones in Vietnam - so the credit really goes to our temple's monks rather than Peek Funeral for the programming body and content.(+) Respectful of the deceased's body during the services/viewing and during the burial. Very much appreciated.(+) Followed all directions for dressing the body - hair and clothes.(+) Coordination of and communications to transport the body after passing was timely, smooth, professional, and respectful. All the business-as-usual paperwork given to family was done in a very compassionate way. Timely setup of appointment to begin funeral planning the day immediately after passing. Again, done in a very compassionate and flexible manner. Much appreciated.(-) Expected more guidance during the day-of funeral, including letting the family and guests know where to go, transitioning from viewing to procession to the burial plot. This was something the staff said they would be doing (some sense of directing), so our family entrusted them in this, but on the day of, there was little initiative. Had we known we'd need some type of orchestrator / MC for the entire day, we would have looked for and hired someone to help rather than defaulting this on the grieving family members who would have rather just take in the ceremonies without the need to balance logistics and direction-giving. Especially for staff who see these ceremonies over and over again, versus a family going through their first loss.(-) Family must proactively and ask often, prior to the funeral, for details about the day-of funeral details, e.g., how many pallbearers, which procession items to carry (fruit, candles, flowers, etc.), what the lineup even looks like (they have a PDF handout they can send if you ask). Otherwise, it would have been a cold run on the day-of without any direction from staff (see above point). You have to run a rehearsal in your mind before the actual funeral, and think of questions and ask them, so you clarify everything, or else the day-of is going to be a complete dry-run. If there is no staff support on the day-of, that's fine, but clarify that with clients and do not make false promises about staff support when planning the funeral with them.(-) Used car salesman-like tactics, language, and stress creation to sell tombstone during the day immediately after passing, and the following weeks, was very much not appreciated, especially during biggest moments of stress right after a passing. All other sales / paperwork (burial internment rights, services, casket) were fine - communicated in a steady, compassionate way. But the staff member dealing with tombstone (post-burial) was just not the best and we avoided communications with him due to the unneeded stress it created.(-) Staff completely dropped the ball on reporting the death to SSA, despite numerous assurances that this had been done. Had I not checked the work and called SSA myself to verify, I would not have discovered this. If this service is not offered, that's fine, but don't say it's done when it's not.“

“Our Daughter passed away in California and everyone lived in different states far away. I called Envoi Cremation, I spoke with Jose. He was so kind and helpful. He handled all of the Hospital paperwork and kept us well informed. Jose handled everything! After the Cremation was final, he shipped ashes to my house. He handled an excruciatingly painful time for our family and handled it with such gentleness and compassion. I highly recommend them. Besides be so kind and helpful they were very reasonably priced.“

“Thank you Sunnyside Mortuary in garden grove to planning my Father funeral , at first we have some problem with some arrangement and religion set up but afterward everything settle we all happy with the result and we were able to give our Father a beautiful send off. Thank you Juan, Isaiah and Kylie to be there that day show care, respect and helping us through the difficult time, I am really appreciateAlso I suggest Sunnyside will give the funeral little more time , 2 1/2 hours for asian funeral is not enough, feel very rush for going far for cremation, and long reply time to questions. There is also a tiny selection for an urn as well as a long time for engraving.“

“We recently scattered our parents ashes off the coast of Newport and the boat we rented from Atlantis Society was wonderful. The Captain and crew were kind, efficient, supportive and made a tough day special and memorable. Everything went well and the crew helped with all aspects of a respectful scattering of our parents ashes. The office team were so helpful and during a hard time we are so appreciative of the whole team. Thank you from our family.“

“Amazing from beginning to end. My mother expressed how professional and genuinely caring this team was when she and my uncle were looking for a funeral home. She had found them from our church Sunday notice and they were responsive and very detail oriented.Emotions are very difficult to navigate when you lose someone and I took the role of communicating my mothers wishes to the staff on the viewing and the woman who was with us through it all was phenomenal. I am grateful that they were able to care for all our needs during our difficult loss.We had the same person throughout the viewing, church service, and the funeral at the cemetery. She was very respectful and was well organized to get everything done that was needed.“

He's a caring and kind man and very professional. Highly recommend his services.“

“The team at Dimond and Shannon was incredible to work with. Annette was my primary point of contact, but the entire team was supportive, gracious, and professional every step of the way. At a time when things can be very difficult to deal with, they were all truly a gift from God. From the bottom of my heart I offer thanks to you Annette, and everyone at Dimond and Shannon for all that you did for our family and friends. One extra thank you goes to Mr Eddy for his moving remembrance of his time working with my wife during their years working together there, at Dimond and Shannon.“

“Chapman Funeral Homes was of great service to my family and I.They had a lot of options for whatever we needed. They were kind and patient when explaining things and answered all of our questions. I’m happy to be writing this review a little over a year of my husbands passing, because even now I am in their thoughts and feel Chapman Funeral Homess love. They have written me cards for anniversary’s and holidays etc when times were expected to be a little harder. Also at the time of preparing for the funeral, I had forgotten some paper work after they had closed and the young man (I believe it was Cameron) so kindly went out of his way to come back because I had been in the area and got them for me.I am grateful for all they did and still do. I highly recommend Chapman Funeral Homes.“

“I can't say enough about how great Natural Grace Funerals was to work with. In the most difficult of times, Shari Wolf, the owner was empathetic and kind from the very first phone call. While there are other companies that charge less, I felt that the service provided was worth it (I had heard horror stories from friends about other companies). After my mother passed, someone arrived within an hour of the call and the ashes were delivered within the time they were promised. I highly recommend Natural Grace Funerals and Cremations.“

“I found out about Generations through a co-worker and I really didn’t know what to expect as this was my first time getting involved in funeral preparations. Karen was amazing and coordinated everything I needed, including sourcing some custom items that were difficult to find. It really comforted me and other family members to know that one of my best friends would be laid to rest in exactly how she wanted. Karen was responsive, helpful, and easy to work with. Her team helped me to decide on some of the details that I wouldn’t have been able to do on my own. Overall, I was very happy with the results and I will be recommending Generations to all my friends and relatives.“

“Let me start by saying if I could give 10 stars I would. Justin is the man! My precious god son was killed by his girlfriend and I didn't know how I was going to get through making arrangements and ensuring my brother and sister in law would have a beautiful service for their son. Justin went above and beyond for us. He was always kind and gentle with his words. He was very helpful in every way possible. He worked with me no matter if he was on the clock or not. I don't know how it would have turned out otherwise. I will forever be grateful to Justin and Sunset Funeral. Trust me, I am one of the most critical and pivotal people and I couldn't have asked for more. It is worth driving a little further to come here. Everyone showed up and we had a wonderful turnout. Thank you again for all your hard work and support to everyone at Sunset !“

“Family mortuary was very compassionate and patient with us during this hard difficult time. I can’t remember all the team members that I spoke with on the phone and in person but every single member understood our needs and were very informative of the services that we were looking for, and it was a great transition as this process was already hard enough it was a very great transition to help put my grandpa to rest. Thank you mortuary for all you’ve done and continue to do to many other families.“

“Macera Crematory in Santa Ana provided an outstanding service in a time of deep sorrow and loss. The professionalism, compassion, and understanding they displayed from the onset were second to none, providing comfort and support during a difficult time.Their staff exhibited great sensitivity and respect, walking us through every step of the process with clear explanations and patient guidance. They combined their professionalism with genuine warmth and empathy, which truly helped to create a calm and comforting environment. However, the only hitch in the overall experience was the parking situation. Unfortunately, we received a parking ticket, which added a bit of frustration to an otherwise smooth process. This is something future visitors might want to be aware of, and plan for accordingly.Despite the parking hiccup, Macera Crematory in Santa Ana was exemplary in their service. Their team’s combination of professional expertise and heartfelt compassion are commendable. Just remember to double-check your parking to avoid any unwelcome surprises. I wholeheartedly recommend their services to those navigating through such a challenging time.“

“Losing a loved one is never easy. The day our father died our hospice provider was nowhere to be found. We googled and found simplicity cremation. So professional, so easy, the young men that showed up at the house to transport our father were implicitly dressed in vests and ties and it was almost 100 degrees in the San Fernando valley. They asked us questions about how we wanted them to proceed, if we wanted to be in the room, were we comfortable with them handling him in any particular way. They did everything in their power to make us feel comfortable in a time where you don't know what you're feeling. Thank you simplicity for making a very hard day a little bit easier.“
