The Massage Place is a cozy and welcoming business with easy parking, located in the valley. It offers a clean, quiet environment and a variety of skilled therapists. Many customers have been visiting for years and praise the friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. While experiences may vary with different therapists, some clients have found their favorites and consistently return. Overall, it comes highly recommended for anyone seeking a great massage experience.
I know that this is a chain and I can only speak for the one in Studio City/Sherman Oaks on Ventura Blvd. I go to this location on Tuesdays specifically to see Chris, who is a MASTER masseuse. He has a very gentle, healing energy and discusses your problem areas before he begins. The music is kept very soft and the place is always calm and quiet when I arrive. I make my appointment by phone usually the day before but I've also come in for walk-ins and never had a real issue being seen by someone pretty promptly. If you want a specific person though I would call ahead. Either way, Chris is amazing. I have chronic pain conditions and several nerve issues, etc and he is very mindful of the pressure he uses, my problem areas, etc. This last time, the massage was so good I actually extended it from a 60 minute to a 90 to let him keep working on a kink he was unknotting in my neck. All in all, fantastic, and a 60 minute massage is about $60 - can't beat that, really.
Each time is different with all of the independent massage therapists, but I really like this business. The Massage Place is honest and simple. It's always quiet, clean and no-frills, just like I like it. My only comment would be that the management set rules with the therapists. Some of them post annoying signs in their rooms telling you how much $TIP$ they expect from you. Wanda doesn't do that and she's really a thoughtful massage therapist. Tell her how soft or hard and she'll accommodate you!!! You tip as you please and everyone is happy.
Love coming here for massages. I've been coming here for 7 yrs now. I've had different therapists and they're all great. This place is pretty quiet, neat and clean. I highly recommend this place, you won't regret it.
