“I am delighted with the repairs and improvements that Jorge Cortez and his team made to my ancient drip irrigation system. He found the ultimate cause of a significant leak (a valve stuck open in a hard-to-get-to controller under my back deck) and manually shut it off while he ordered a replacement. His team replaced several drip nozzles with micro-sprinklers, and swapped out some badly deteriorated lines for new ones. Everyone was friendly and super-efficient. At the end, Jorge returned to inspect everything (correcting a couple of very minor flaws) before declaring the job finished. All the work came with a one-year warranty. I wish we had a world where everyone had Jorge's attention to detail and commitment to excellence.“

“We worked with Lindsey Zero of Silver Leaf Landscapes on a large-scale hardscaping and landscaping project for nearly six months. Being designers ourselves, we had a concept for what we wanted and shared our ideas and reference materials with Lindsey, feeling confident that he could take our vision to the next level, and he did just that.

He is truly an artist and is hands-on every step of the way, taking great care of every detail, from initial demolition and grading to professional deck building, zone-specific plantings, irrigation, and lighting, which he fabricated himself. The highlights of his work included building a boulder-and-flagstone multi-level spa deck with a gorgeous built-in bench seat, an outdoor living room area, and the most incredible outdoor shower formed from a scavenged eucalyptus tree dragged off a southern beach in Ventura County.

Lindsey’s strong points are his creative eye, his high standards of craftsmanship, his attention to even the smallest of details, and his commitment to communicating effectively. He does what he says he will do, and is punctual, always letting us know up front about potential delays or cost increases.

There were a few unavoidable setbacks and weather events that pushed out our expected finish date, but our outdoor space is beyond what we had imagined, and we couldn’t be happier with the final result.“

“These guys have been amazing to work with. During the planning stages they came up with ideas that I had never even thought of. They were excellent with communication during the entire process which was helpful since we had pets that we didn't want to escape. They also did little extras like hauling off boxes that we had left over from our move and hanging up our water hose hook that had been laying on the ground. We've had them regularly work on 2 properties in that time, and among other things they transformed an ugly dirt patch into a beautiful succulent garden. They also built a retaining wall at the back of a property that was having continual mudslides for decades, directly into a neighboring school. In January 2022, I assumed the responsibility of a HOA property comprising 38 units on a six-acre property that was extremely neglected for 7/8 years. Today, in October 2023, the irrigation is working accurately and efficiently because of Dave's ongoing commitment to identify the water zones associated with 5 controllers and 50+ values. That in itself - was no easy task because so many valves were buried and had been lost for years! Not only did he identify the zones and watering patterns, but he also generated the documentation to create an efficient working map for the entire property. At that point, it was all about repairs and replacements with an absolute commitment to implementing the best water-wise solutions available. In addition, he had me hovering over him throughout the process, asking questions, listening, and learning. Knowledge is power - I've gained that because Dave is so knowledgeable (and patient) about all aspects of irrigation and horticulture, a true source for everything. With the irrigation working at peak efficiency and a 20,000 decrease in water expense compared to last year, yes - that's something to talk about! At this point, we transitioned to the enjoyable task of planting. Once again, Dave's vast knowledge of drought-tolerant plants and an overall organic approach to maintaining the property has been invaluable. In closing, the property is thriving now, so his role is nearly done, and his accomplishments are profound. His expertise will always be included in the annual budget to assess the on-site landscape crew and ensure the irrigation system and property are maintained to our established standards. The cross-check between two providers is imperative for a property of this size and complexity, and we are immensely thankful that he will continue to oversee and maintain the integrity of what he's accomplished with this property.
