They were excellent with communication during the entire process which was helpful since we had pets that we didn't want to escape. Daniel and his team completely transformed our 1.25-acre foothill property in Santa Barbara. As the daughter of Santa Barbara’s own Grant Castleberg, creator of Alice Keck Park Garden (and many other things), I came into our home project with plenty of ideas, opinions, and high expectations, and Daniel exceeded every one of them.

Like any major landscape construction project, there were unexpected challenges. The biggest came during a record rainfall when we rediscovered a seasonal creek running through our property. Instead of treating it as a problem, Daniel saw it as an opportunity. He designed and built three stunning solid-slab stone bridges and transformed the creek into a beautiful, functional feature that now helps irrigate the landscape through deep watering instead of simply creating runoff.

Every element of the project feels intentional. The grading flows naturally, the pathways are artistic, and the stone walls somehow feel both timeless and modern—like they’ve always belonged here.

We've had them regularly work on 2 properties in that time, and among other things they transformed an ugly dirt patch into a beautiful succulent garden. They also built a retaining wall at the back of a property that was having continual mudslides for decades, directly into a neighboring school. In January 2022, I assumed the responsibility of a HOA property comprising 38 units on a six-acre property that was extremely neglected for 7/8 years. Today, in October 2023, the irrigation is working accurately and efficiently because of Dave's ongoing commitment to identify the water zones associated with 5 controllers and 50+ values. That in itself - was no easy task because so many valves were buried and had been lost for years! Not only did he identify the zones and watering patterns, but he also generated the documentation to create an efficient working map for the entire property. At that point, it was all about repairs and replacements with an absolute commitment to implementing the best water-wise solutions available. In addition, he had me hovering over him throughout the process, asking questions, listening, and learning. Knowledge is power - I've gained that because Dave is so knowledgeable (and patient) about all aspects of irrigation and horticulture, a true source for everything. With the irrigation working at peak efficiency and a 20,000 decrease in water expense compared to last year, yes - that's something to talk about! At this point, we transitioned to the enjoyable task of planting. Once again, Dave's vast knowledge of drought-tolerant plants and an overall organic approach to maintaining the property has been invaluable. In closing, the property is thriving now, so his role is nearly done, and his accomplishments are profound. His expertise will always be included in the annual budget to assess the on-site landscape crew and ensure the irrigation system and property are maintained to our established standards. The cross-check between two providers is imperative for a property of this size and complexity, and we are immensely thankful that he will continue to oversee and maintain the integrity of what he's accomplished with this property.
