We've always gone to the Palo Alto Medical Foundation facilities and El Camino Hospital. However, my husband got in an accident on the road and (although requesting to go to El Camino) the ambulance took him to SCVMC because of the trauma center. I'm giving two stars since the ortho docs and surgeons did a great job with the procedures. However, the facility is a disgusting nightmare and a medical center for criminals. Police are always hanging out in the hallways and astonishingly the food isn't even fit for the prisoners. I was bringing my husband his food each day in recovery after I learned that the only thing he ate an entire day was one bread roll and a few crackers. I decided to try the meal myself and wanted to vomit after the first bite, it's that disgusting. Constant moaning and yelling by other "inmates" near his room, along with frequent nurse interruptions, made it impossible for him to get any good rest. He couldn't get out of that hospital fast enough. Followup "appointments" with actual scheduled times (not talking ER here), takes nothing less than forever. It takes literally 4 hours to park, get x-rayed and then get seen by the doc. We are so spoiled with PAMF and El Camino Hospital. Very rarely has a doctor been more than five to ten minutes late there and the facilities are in decent shape. My parents were long-time patients at Kaiser and even that facility and operations weren't as bad. That's saying something. If you're ever in an accident, PLEAD, BEG, the first responders to take you somewhere other than Valley Med...Good Sam, El Camino, anywhere but there.
I came here with my daughter and the nurses did a great job at taking care of her, along with the DR. The ER was packed and the wait was long but what do you expect? It's the only ER in the area, of course they're understaffed and slow. Most of the people there could've gone to urgent care, that's why the ER is backed up 24/7.
My aunt was found to have cancer all over her body there. I want to thank all of the staff for taking care of my beloved aunt. Our family is grateful to all who cared for my Auntie Zepe! God bless you for all the good work that you do!
