I just moved in the Bay Area and was looking for a Japanese hairstylist as I made a rule to go to a Japanese stylist only. To explain, I love Japanese integrity when it comes to their work and craft. I came up to this salon and found Yoshi through yelp. Oh, I don't have any regrets having my hair done by him.I had a very long hair that I usually don't bother much to take care for except to wash it. He knew right there that I've been using something on it that I shouldn't have: coconut oil. He explained that products that aren't cut out specifically for the hair would have big molecules that won't be able to penetrate the hair but will, instead, cause build up. I realized that made sense. My hair was heavy from the oil I've been putting. Yoshi washed my hair for about 30 minutes and it felt so good to be pampered like that.Then he cut it to the style that I wanted. Now I feel so much better without the build up. I understood now how one reviewer mentioned how Yoshi is like her hair shrink!Additionally, I love how and where his salon is! Reminds me of SoHo in NYC. It's clean and looks out to the streets of SF.
Yoshi is absolutely meticulous and precise beyond words. The service level is amazing, from the shampoo onward. This is not a cut-and-go salon...Yoshi takes his time and makes certain that things are done right.
