This review is very overdue! We've been patients/clients of Del Norte Animal Hospital for almost 3 years now and we consider ourselves very fortunate to be in their expert care with our rescue pup MAX. MAX came with some issues when we adopted him. He had pneumonia and tested positive for tick-borne illness although thankfully it wasn't active -- plus his tummy was a mess with unexplained bouts of diarrhea that would resolve only to "out of the blue" come back with a vengeance. MAX was put on antibiotics for his pneumonia and it resolved -- his testing positive for tick-borne illness has finally come back negative last year and his recalcitrant diarrhea has finally stopped...read full review

Last year, my family suffered the heartbreaking loss of Jenny, my 9-year-old golden retriever. It was pain that I didn't know I was capable of feeling. Several months later, another golden came into my life named Jodie, who just so happens to be a niece of Jenny, and she's been the best dog I could have ever asked for. Of course I brought her back to Del Norte where she has endeared herself to the staff and always receives great treatment. I have met all three doctors -- Dr. Gillmeister, Dr. Dowd, and Dr. Bone (I think there may also be a fourth now) -- and I feel very secure with the knowledge and care that has always been shown to Jodie. Del Norte is a gem. I have an older dog who was having his physical and needed lab work. Text told me it would take longer as they don’t want their older clients to feel stress. They’re a group actually caring for your pet rather than your wallet. Have used Dr. Dowd for many years and she is a blessing to our family.
