My son has been going to Mr. Halsey’s school for over 3 years and loves it. Scott strikes the perfect balance between discipline and fun for the kids. He gets them sparring early on which can be a hurtle but, in the end, being able to defend yourself is one of the main goals and my son has really improved over the years thanks to Scott’s training. Scott personally teaches the lower belts (usually with another instructor) so we haven’t worked with the other instructors for as long, but they all follow Scott’s great model of discipling/fun/learning. We've been going to Scott Halsey Kenpo Karate for 5 years now. We started progressively with our three boys and we immediately liked their methodology and style. Mr. Halsey is incredibly professional and has more experience as a karate teacher than probably most (if not all) martial arts teachers in the area. I've since joined the academy too and I now enjoy the journey with my kids. Mr. Halsey is strict and has taught a lot of great discipline to my boys. Simply put. The best martial arts studio in Shasta County. Instructors and advanced students are incredibly friendly to new students. The facility is always clean, and pricing is exceptionally fair. You can’t go wrong.
