LA Fitness is a gym that offers many amenities at a good value. Members appreciate the friendly staff and the good condition of the gym. The Poway location is especially praised for being clean, with plenty of equipment and a welcoming atmosphere. The basketball court is air-conditioned, enhancing comfort during play. The gym has a fun atmosphere, and everything generally works well. The staff, including front desk personnel, custodial staff, instructors, and personal trainers, are recognized for being polite, caring, and cheerful. Recent renovations are anticipated to improve the space further, with hopes for additional features like Pickleball courts. The gym is not usually crowded, making it a popular choice for those living in the Poway area. Overall, it is recommended for its variety of group classes and friendly environment.
Gym is fine but the pool is a bit irritating. Barely any swim lanes because they rent 2 out for swim school out of 4 lanes and then for senior aqua aerobics they are allowed to take up the entire pool and kick people out. The classes should be maxed to 2 lanes considering there's only 4 lanes and y'all rent 2 out for swim school everyday. Just greedy and waste of a membership. Also pool is kinda dirty
6/10/2026 - Finally, the lights (after a month) and air conditioning (easily 6 months) have been fixed. I just wish management did not take so long to address these issues, and going forward, if they can't be fixed immediately, at least share approximate timelines as to when issues should be resolved. We would at least know the problem is being addressed.
I have increased my rating from 1 star to 4. I will update later with a score of 5 if I continue to see a sense of urgency around maintenance issues and putting the customer first over profits.
New equipment, updates, and great revised layout. Nice friendly staff, special shout out to Ethan evening shift front desk part time SDSU college student who went above and beyond to help customer with locked car door, even downloading a car app on his personal phone to help solve the situation and unlock the door remotely. Outstanding customer service!
