“After having started out home renovation, we set out to look for a landscape architect that could design on challenging terrain that needed engineering. We wanted a design and build firm that would take responsibility for the entire project; we also knew it would be no small feat to find someone that met our need for excellent design and the ability to actually build what was designed on our land. A friend had worked with NatureWalk and they came highly recommended. My husband and I were immediately impressed with Angelica's (the owner’s) understanding of our land and enthusiasm towards her work. Angelica is an artist! “Many years ago we had Jenna Bayer Garden Design completely remodel the backyard of our first home: new plants & trees, water saving irrigation system, a charming water feature, Adirondack chair area with a granite boulder as coffee table and the perfect deck roof addition with overhead gas heater. It was perfect!We loved her work, her eye for great design and her attention to detail so much that many years later when we moved into out new larger home (and larger property, we had her completely redesign the front, back and side yards. This included again all new plants & irrigation, plus a brand new deck (with 2 electric louver roofs, copper hammered fire table, water feature between two raised vegetable garden beds, several salt and pepper granite boulders added to complement the several existing 85 year old Redwood trees, a decomposed granite pathways and a wandering bluestone walkway leading to a new stone lined driveway.Today the garden and ground look wonderful and as our hobby is maintaining the garden ourselves, we are always being complimented on how beautiful the yard looks. “Mike Hertzer and his team at Modern Landscaping recently completed a front and backyard installation for my husband and I at a newly built residence in Morgan Hill. Mike is truly a dedicated landscape professional. Mike was organized, on top of the job at all times, respectful and caring of his crew, and informed of the latest and best materials and techniques for the job. What's more, Mike is extremely knowledgeable about a wide range of plant material. He was very patient with my many questions; I learned a lot from him. He also had a great working relationship with our landscape designer who clearly respected Mike's expertise. Our site had several challenges that Mike easily handled, including poor drainage and poor soil quality. And although not an extremely large project, our design included several types of hardscape (Mike's crew did an absolutely beautiful job of cutting and laying a stone patio), multiple planting areas, two water fountains and a variety of other details. Mike didn't take shortcuts. Every step of the installation was done carefully. I especially appreciated Mike's attention to detail, such as building the AC enclosures in such a way they could be easily removed for future access. Or covering the openings into the underground drainage pipes with mesh so that leaves and other debris would not fall into them. Mike even provided extra parts for the irrigation system and provided me with an "as installed" diagram showing where the underground electrical and water lines were located - not just a paper copy, but a laminated one I could take outside. In short, Mike truly cares about the quality of work done under his name. I am so glad we chose Modern Landscaping to install our yard and would absolutely recommend them for any landscaping project.“

“I reached out to several landscapers for quotes on the following landscaping: 1. Removing roughly 500 square feet of concrete pavers in the backyard and replacing it with artificial turf, as well as planting vines along the walls. 2. Leveling the existing sandstone and filling the gaps with decomposed granite. 3. Replacing the steep concrete steps in the backyard with a more gradual wooden step-down. 4. Removing existing concrete driveway and replacing it with pavers.John arrived punctually for the estimation. He inquired about the project's specifics, took photos, and measured the area. “I was in need of gorilla hair mulhc. Their pricing was very reasoanable except delivery charge seens online was a bit on the high side . Hence I got uhaul truck got there asked how much I can fit ( 2 cubic-yrd) whereas I was in need of 10 cubic-yrd. The good news their local truck would be able to delivery for a lot reasonable price. Overall I ended up renting heir local truck for delivery where I also added 1 cubic yard of organic compost . Long story short, if you call and get your pricing, their service is stellar, if you try going up there to pikc up the stuff, you need open trailer , and enterance is abit vague and looks insdutruius and the lot is shared with recycling facility I am makring down 1 star due to fact that their online pricing for delivery was not up to date :)“
