Tin is skillful, and especially good with my thick and naturally curly and dry hair. What I in particularly appreciate him is that he will create hairstyles that look nice, fit me, and require MINIMAL maintenance. As a working mother, that's been a life changer to show up looking (and feeling) good without having to spend a ton of time!“

Right away all of the friendly professionals at Ash Hair made me feel so welcome. Jules sat me down and was able to decode my ridiculous, often unintelligible, rhetoric detailing what I wanted done to my hair. I showed a few photos, but contradicted myself constantly! As I do. Jules said "I think I got it ;)" and boy did she ever! Jules was meticulous, and completely detail-oriented in a way I have never found before. It made me feel like she actually CARED. All the issues I've had in the past with my color or bangs or whatever it may be were nowhere to be found. She was deeply intuitive, in every way, and had such an eye for my hair on the first try. The gift of this can not be overstated. I am so excited to see her again! If you want a BANG for your buck I can not recommend Jules enough. She's the real deal.“

“Era Salon is fantastic! I have been coming here for years and tried out a variety of services. I always come back here for the eyebrow wax, upper lip wax, and an eyelash tint. I also always request Tao, she is the owner, and very kind and consistent. All the staff there however is great and hardworking. This place is also my mom's go to spot for a manicure and pedicure. I highly recommend era salon! It can get busy so call ahead to book an appointment- they are great about answering the phone & responsiveness.“

“My experience with Misha was all positive. I had a few pics on my phone of the hairstyle I wanted. My hair was already short & has a lot of silver grey. Misha was able to translate the pic to my hair extremely well & I was very happy with the final product. Misha cut with thoughtfulness & skill, explaining as she went if I had any questions. I could tell she was very experienced & very well educated in hair types. Mine is going grey & has a natural wave. I loved that she didn’t try to talk me into colouring my hair & she knew how to handle natural waves. This included the products she used, which smelled divine!! To the way she cut & then styled. I’d definitely go back when I’m back in the U.S (I’m visiting from Australia but frequent Mill Valley)
I really loved that it’s a small salon & it’s just Misha doing the whole job as she’s trained in all facets of cutting & colouring, and it’s not noisy & chaotic like many salons are with hairdryers & people talking over the top of all the various noises & other people’s hair blowing around lol.“

“I was recently referred to Carla Madison the owner of salon Maddison by someone who had amazing hair. I have been going to a salon nearby but was starting to feel that the prices were getting unreasonable. Not only is Carlas salon beautiful and relaxing, her cut and color blew me away. It’s really important to me to love my hair and I haven’t been this happy with my hair in as long as I can remember!! Carla’s techniques are unique and different- techniques I hadnt seen in the past even at very bougie boutique salons. Also, she uses a color brand that I had not heard of but is very specialized and it makes a big difference.

Not only all of that good stuff, but this too: after our initial consultation when I told her what I wanted- she later spent time looking at pictures and sending them to make sure we were on the same page. I haven’t had that level of professionalism and service ever - I don’t think.

“With the caveat of previous reviews and acknowledgement that this is an institution, a neighborhood gem, a social hub and haven for women with stories to tell and share, I was referred to Lea several years ago when I was looking for someone to re-perm my hair. That's right. I said "perm." I know, I know, but it's not the 80's anymore and it doesn't have to be synonymous with frizz. The trick is, few salons offer the service. I explained to her what I was looking for: a gentle wave to add body and shape to my otherwise straight Asian hair. I like being able to wash my hair, let it air dry. The perm lets me feel like I've styled it when in fact I'm incredibly lazy. She asked for enough time to buy the right green curlers for the job and we scheduled for a morning about a month later. It's a big job. My hair falls near my waist and I have a lot of it. She usually alternates between green and coral rods to provide a mix of tighter and looser curls. While I only tend to visit once a year, Lea has remembered me from year to year and she's thoughtful and sweet, always doing her best to keep me comfortable while I sit under the heater or reclining in the sink with my head heavy with curlers and neutralizer. The results are worth it: beautiful waves that last for months. (It also doesn't hurt that her prices are reasonable!)“

Jackie was incredibly responsive throughout the whole planning process, and she really listened to my feedback after the trial. She was so much fun on the day, and moved efficiently but carefully through everyone, keeping our timeline on track. She gave us all updo's that complemented each other but were unique to each person, and my hair stayed perfectly in place despite crazy heat and 3 hours of intense dancing!
