“I've been training here for 6 years and I still look forward to each class. Ive done martial arts my whole life (Karate, Boxing, BJJ) and none of them are like Urban Combat. This place is focused on real life and how those arts come together with actual common sense for dealing with potential situations. The classes include fun workouts, lessons in various martial arts / weapons, and film study on real situations. Brian is an amazing teacher - hes not lecturing from the sidelines, he is right there with you showing you how its done.
If you are interested in learning actual self defense strategies separate from traditional martial arts - this is your place. Its a bay area hidden gem!

Our child began their journey at just 5 years old in the Little Dragons program under KJN Jian, and it has been amazing to watch them grow into a confident blue belt under the guidance of KJN Khang. The martial arts training here has played a huge role in building our child’s confidence while also teaching important life skills like confidence, respect, and discipline.
We love attending the annual black belt shows every year, they are inspiring, exciting, and a true celebration of the hard work the students put in. The demo team performances are always incredible, and it’s especially meaningful to see the instructors performing alongside the students, showing their passion and leadership. The academy has a close-knit, family like comunity that makes everyone feel welcome, and the large adult program really shows that this school is for all ages.
