“A few weeks before coming home for Thanksgiving, I off hand mentioned to my dearest mother that I wanted to get a haircut soon. A day later I get a text reading "your hair appt is with Michael at Mikell Coiffure's 11/18 at 9:45am. He doesn't take new clients but he is seeing you!" ahahahahaha gotta love Moms.I arrived right on time as I know my mom would have had my head on the guillotine if I was late. I walked up the steps directly adjacent to Sugarfish, and opened the door into a breathtaking French-Moroccan inspired interior with an ocean view peaking through the window.The receptionist greeted me with a huge smile as I checked in and asked me if I wanted coffee or some water to which I obviously said "both hehe" and then asked if I wanted still or sparkling water. God I loved being pampered sometimes. But the answer to that question is always sparkling. Always.After getting my hair washed, I got in the comfy salon chair and a silk green robe draped over me. I felt like a king in here ahahaha.Michael then comes out in a white tank top under a light green button down, hermes bracelet on the wrist, multi color golden gooses on the feet, all tied together by a pearl necklace that he got off amazon (allegedly). Why am I giving you all these details? I have no idea I'm just trying to set the scene.I walked into Mikell Coiffure, hair down to my shoulders looking like "a sheepdog" as my father so eloquently puts it. But I think I look like a rockstar heheheheh.Anyways, I didn't really know what I wanted to do. After explaining to Michael I kinda want to go back to my clean cut choir boy look but I'm conflicted because I have been growing my hair out for awhile and I do like the Rockstar, or Sheepdog, look, he asked how long I'd had it long. "About 2 years..." I said with my tail between my legs. "Okay let's go clean cut" with the confidence of a 2017 Tom Brady. DONE!Michael is the most engaging hair stylist or barber I have ever been to, as he is so genuinely passionate about his work that I don't think he could hide it if he tried. I got insights into the beauty industry, how he decided on the Salon name, stories of his travels to Morocco that inspired the interior for Mikell Coiffure, and much more. You can teach many things in life, but passion isn't one of them.This passion, in my experience, leads directly to success and is why he can't take any new clients, unless you know Nancy Novo ahahahaha big Nanc is the plug!As for the haircut, I will leave you with a short anecdote:I sent before and after pictures to my girlfriend, who in some circles is known as "The Ice Queen." “Rena and her team were so amazing on our wedding day, and she is a true artist when it comes to hair and makeup!! We used Bright Crystal for our wedding day on 10/21/23 at Neighborhood Church and La Venta. We were all staying at Terranea, which Rena has a lot of experience doing for weddings and her and her team have their system down pat! Rena also actually did the hair and makeup for my older sisters wedding and we all loved our hair and makeup so much that I wanted her back for my wedding ? The HUA artists for BCM arrived early (at 6:45 AM) and kept us on schedule all morning, as well as executed all of the looks that all my bridesmaids, my mom, and my mother in law and grandmas wanted to perfection - they also were great to be around the morning of and so professional. They were happy to do tweaks for the bridesmaids who just wanted to implement a few changes, as well as did touch ups before everyone before the wedding. Everyone raved about their hair and my grandmas felt so beautiful Rena also made me look exactly how I’ve wanted to as a bride on my wedding day…natural, beautiful, modern, radiant, and like myself. “I finally remembered to write my overdue review for Teyeb. I consulted Teyeb after an horrible hair color and cut at another studio. I was pretty shocked and didn't want to trust a hair stylist anytime soon, but also wanted to fix my hair result I got from the previous stylist, who did not listen at all to my concerns and wishes. I called Teyeb and he called me back for a phone consultation first. It was a good first impression for me to go ahead and schedule my appointment with him. He made sure I understand my options after I expressed what I envisioned with blending my natural hair, which was brunette, with silver, gray roots and highlights. He made sure that the products used were gentle on my hair, especially after having so much done a few months earlier and explained the color possibilities mixes plus showed me with strains of different hair colors I considered how it would blend in with my existing hair. That helped to get a better visual and to choose the right color for the highlights. I like the studio which was elegant and clean. Plus the energy was great and it was so nice that they had the beautiful puppy around to keep us company. I was very happy with my results and will be back in the near future to go a little bit lighter platinum and add a few more highlights. Now that I know how it looks. I will recommend Teyeb to all of my friends who are looking for a new hairstylist, and will be back for future hair needs soon.“

You should call and ask for her. Ms. Vazquez took care of me a few times since I moved out here, and the experience today confirmed all the positive experiences I had before. BOARDING EXPERIENCE: Quick, concise, no technical mumbo-jumbo. For example, this is how it went last time:Me: I do not care how long. Just enough for a 2-second updo. I do not want hair falling on my face.Ms. Vazquez: Okay.And this is how it went today:Me: I am growing my grey hair out. I need something that will reduce dramatic contrast and soften the skunk look.Ms. Vazquez: Got it.That was it. Ms. Vazquez got to work. I had a few concerns which I did not discuss (see below). I did not need to. She assessed, advised without so many words, and got everything done. And I am super-delighted by the result.CONCERNS I DID NOT DISCUSS TODAY in case you have the same concerns as I did:- I've been dyeing my hair for three decades. I do not have the healthiest hair in the world.- I've been dyeing with the coloring agents that specialize in grey hair coverage. My dark color tend to stay very long, and they are hard to bleach.- My hair is indeed grey. Very silvery (See the before-photo). I was hoping that the new colour would blend with the shiny root. - My goal is to stop dyeing hair altogether. The change today is a bridge, which will allow me to go au naturale. - My biggest concern: I have frizzy, stubborn senior hair, and was worried that my hair might not survive the treatments today. FACILITY AND AMBIENCE: the place is spacious, and both patrons and staff respected social distancing and face-covering policy. I could see that the place is meticulously cleaned and sanitized.
